Do a search on Pelican 911 BBS re: "smog test" or something like that and you will see the a long thread re: latest discussion concerning the proposed changes to the CA smog laws. The latest legislation (authoried by a Bay area legislator) that is on the way to being passed is that the rolling 30 year law will go away and that only 1975 and earlier cars will be exempt from smogging. If this passes (seems likely) it will be a real bummer for me too since the rolling 30 year exemption was one of the considerations that went into my decision to buy my teener this past February.
