I have some time, maybe too much !
The project I am working one now is to use the hydraulic pressure being generated by my power-steering pump to run my slave cylinder. My general thoughts are to run a hose from the pump output to the slave with a bypass controlled by an electric solenoid. If I can modulate the pressure correctly it should work. I was thinking about a anti-lock brake solenoid, seems to me it might be able to handle the modulation. Are there any hydraulic specialists out there ? |

The simple solution is a hydroboost unit that ties to your power steering. It's what they use with diesel brakes that don't have vacuum for a vacuum assist unit. The problem is going to be a place to mount it. I used one of these in my 71 chevy truck for the brakes and it took a truck that wouldn't stop at all to one that can throw you through the window with little pedal pressure. I LOVE IT!
You could probably mount the unit in the back of the car (by the hydraulic pump) and use the cable to actuate it and build some linkage to connect to the clutch arm. Or....more complex but clean....Dump the cable, use a small clutch hydraulic clutch MC to actuate the hydroboost. Come out of the hydroboost to another slave cylinder at the clutch arm. It's a simple set up and would work perfectly if you can find a place to mount it. However, the clutch pedal effort would be almost non existent. You would probably have to use a spring to give you "feel" and to pull the pedal back (use a 911 pedal assy with spring) Talk to THESE PEOPLE AT VANCO |

I have decided to go with a more conventional system. (go figure ! ) I'm going to use the system where the master sit over the tunnel. I plain to use a vacuum power booster and use a push slave unit in place of the pull unit. Pictures will come soon. ** ****Sorry Lebron James the western conference is still King ! ******** |
