I have been working on the longs for a while now and I have wondered what these are. There were two on each side and they look originalish except that they are screwed into the bottom of the long. Any ideas?

I guess the fiberglass replacements don't use it?(at least mine didn't)

I should have asked earlier as I twisted off the first one last fall

Thanks for the help,
John

Don't get discouraged.

I just recently checked out a roller that had double-sided tape holding theirs on. It looked like dirty white silicone sealer. I suspect the southern heat, rust and high temps over time blended into the gunk I found.
