Go for blue!

Love this build.

It will be hard to resist making the car cosmetically as nice as you can.

And who is to say there is anything wrong with that?

Little more progress on the body over the last week. Got new front fenders that, besides a few dents are rust free. I can't believe it myself. Working on the inside also. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Still hitting the body work hard. Keep coming up with more things to do. Here are a couple update pics.

This is just an overview shot. You should be able to see the biggest mod in this picture.
Attached Image

These next 2 show the great job bill has done on the rear fenders.

Attached Image

Here is the bumper in the works.
Attached Image

Here is the fuel tank that we just set in there. Has primer on the bottom but needs it on the top. need to make a mod to this for a 100mm short little filler. that will be done in the next couple weeks, I hope.
Attached Image

rear panel is ready to paint basically.
Attached Image

Here is the one rear bumper that i had. Looked a little funny once on the car and here is what we found. A full 3/8's if bondo built up in a weird spot. Needless to say, I am looking for a good pair of right and left 1969-1973 bumpers
Attached Image

A few more custom touches coming if i do not have to sell it first. Let me know what you think.

You certainly are not a man who shys from a challange. Excellent work on the body. Wish I had half your skill. Keep posting your progress. You will love your car when it is done.

Here is a pic of my 73 to give you a little incentive

Ha ha haaaa! You think he's actually doing the work himself? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/av-943.gif)

Sorry, was that my out loud voice? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Jonathan is a great guy, and does a fine job of taking (tearing) things apart, but has......um....issues..... when it comes to putting them back together.

Bill Hunny (not really sure if this is truly his real name or a nom-de-plume) is actually doing the body work. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer.gif)

Jonathan is the (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif) mastermind of the project.

I never said I was doing any of the work. Quite frankly mark is right, iam good at taking things apart but generally could not put them back together for the last jelly donut on earth. It is fun to give orders though.

How do you all think the modification of that steel drivers fender looks??

I thought I saw a much bigger modification! Based on this pic, I thought you scored a set of 911R 7" rears. The shadow makes them look deeeeeeeep.

Love this project! Ever find anything stuffed in the rockers??

(shhhhhhh (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif) )

Nothing in the rockers unfortunately. And the wheels are Deep sixes all the way around. They are not going to stay on the car though as i have a set of custom 17's in the works. the mod is nearer the front of the car on the front fender. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

I had a brown 73S and a Green 70S. These are not the cars but the same colors. I loved the cars but it cost so much to fix them. My rebuild on my 73S was $5,000 in parts and machine work. I did all the wrenching. After 500 miles the car was stolen for me. the AAA only paid me $11,000. That was the going price for a 73S in 1978. That was in 1978.

When my car was stolen I thought my world had ended.

8 more thumbs?? Dang, I already got 6 according to mark. Didn't mean to come off like a snob, I just have never had anyone accuse me of being able to put things back together. I really wish I could learn but i am not sure I have the patience. (I am sure mark will pipe in about that too!)

Love the look of your car in the back. that looks like the original color of my car. That is the color i am leaning towards but may go with one of the ugly yellow/brown/orange colors above. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer.gif)

Well it's been slow work but we are getting there. Seems like body work will never be done but my guy Bill says we are getting close now. Here are a few pictures.

First one is an overall. Got the front and rear bumpers bolted up loosely. Rear bumpers are steel and i purchased them as real RS steel bumpers but it turns out the flair at the end was done with mud. No worries though as Bill will be able to contour them for me. Yes, I have decided to flair the car with RS flairs.
Attached Image

A couple more of the rear bumpers. Final fit will happen after I get the flairs installed.

Here is how the front bumper is going. Hard to tell because it is black primer now but there are no holes, everything is filled.

More of the front bumper

Here is a pick of the custom work done on the front drivers fender.

Should have the gas tank back Friday. Will post pics when I get it.

Nice job on the tank! The wheels look good too.

I still say you're going to need to leave it flat black.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Maybe with red pinstriping to match the rear seats..... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/stirthepot.gif)
