After many years in the making, and many expectant fans waiting, the documentary film about the life of Ayrton Senna is playing in Palo Alto, Ca.

Movie Description:
Senna’s remarkable story, charting his physical and spiritual achievements on the track and off, his quest for perfection, and the mythical status he has since attained, is the subject of SENNA, a documentary feature that spans the racing legend’s years as an F1 driver, from his opening season in 1984 to his untimely death a decade later. Far more than a film for F1 fans, SENNA unfolds a remarkable story in a remarkable manner, eschewing many standard documentary techniques in favor of a more cinematic approach that makes full use of astounding footage, much of which is drawn from F1 archives and previously unseen.

Plot Outline
Spanning his years as a Formula One racing driver from 1984 to his untimely death a decade later, SENNA explores the life and work of the triple world champion, his physical and spiritual achievements on the track, his quest for perfection and the mythical status he has since attained.

The film has been made with the full co-operation of the family of Ayrton Senna, who have given permission for this to be the first documentary feature film about his life; Formula One Management, who have provided footage not previously seen theatrically; and the Ayrton Senna Institute, the charitable foundation established after his death which provides educational opportunities to millions of deprived Brazilian children

Lyn and I drove down to West LA this afternoon and saw Senna. One of the best documentaries I've ever seen, and it's 100% archival footage. Much of the commentary is in his own voice. You need not be an F1 fan to enjoy it, and it's not just a "guy film".

See it while you can. Make time, because it may not go into "general release". After all, it's a documentary, not mindless violence driven fluff.

Landmark Theaters has it out here, and they have a couple of venues in Philadelphia. Might be worth checking with them. You're closer to them than I am to Los Angeles, where I saw it .......................

We should meet up at the theatre in Palo Alto at 6PM (give people enough time to get home and clean up from work) and then see the 9:30 showing....

Good plan. I think the 7:00 show may be sold out. I got tickets for 7:00 last week, but might see you on the way out. I'll be the one in the red 914.
