Why Bakersfield? The Crystal Palace, Mesa Marin raceway, Trouts, The Kern River Belle, The Long Branch Saloon, the Tejon Club, and speedway racing. "Nuff for you, Mikey? Drinkin' and REAL Racin', all in one town ............

Make that breakfast lunch instead and the Cap'n and the lovely Lyn will probably be there!

are there any Bay Area/N./C. California people interested in going to this?

do I smell Caravan?!!! lol

Drive down on Sat the 31st, split the hotel rooms, go out for dinner, go for a drive
on Sun, rent some quads.
Call Roger Sheridan and see IF he'll open up his shop, or maybe the Cap'n will.

Wait, is the Cap'n that far south?

Sounds like a lot of fun, and that's a GREAT area to be in.

Caravan anyone???????????? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)

So bondo, what are we gonna do, have it in SLO or over in Bakersfield? If it moves to the valley, I'll have to pass. I don't think I can work a graveyard shift & drive that far. You're the organizer here, tell me what's what. BTW, If you hold it in SLO, the Cap'n has his shop about a half an hour away in Santa Maria, & I bet if we all beg real nice, he'll open it up for us. I would rather go to SLO. It's too freakin hot here to be driving around during the day in a car without A/C. Plus I don't know how these cars would handle the grapevine for any body coming from down south in 100 degree temps.

Heh, SLO. Bakersfield is too far, I wouldn't be able to make it myself... That would defeat my whole purpose (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) There was some mentioning of making it lunch so people from farther away can make it. Would an 11:30 lunch be ok? I think they serve breakfast until 1, so you could still get breakfast if you had your heart set on it.

As far as the shop goes, were you thinking of using the shop to work on 914s, or just having it as a more greasy environment for chatting, or what? I was really just thinking of a breakfast for this first one, and then maybe eventually work up to a breakfast with a drive or something. (I'm new at this)

Do you think the Cap'n would be up for hosting a 914 swap meet? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I, too, would like to do a breakfast as an opening effort. The shop can be available in the future, but it's fulla MBZs right now and it doesn't look like they're goin' away anytime soon ................... 11:30 is doable for us, though I might be a little late. Pick a date! You said Margies, right? Their lunch food is good, too. There's always other places if you don't like more food on your plate than 2 people can eat! The Cap'n

Cap'n: Would 11:45 work? I'm trying to beat the lunch rush, but maybe it doesn't matter. The date is Sunday August 1st.

Everyone who is planning on coming: Is this time good for you?

11:30 works for me, and I'm passing on the Carlsen swap meet that day. The folks running it have SERIOUSLY dropped the ball. Last year there were about 10 sellers, down from 100-150 in years past, and they didn't reply to my inquiry. Used to be the best swap meet of the year anywhere in CA. The Cap'n

If it's Margie's Diner on Calle Joaquin it's only 258.1 miles for lunch. Hmmmmm - that means I've got to leave at 6 AM to be there by 11:30 AM ---- Whew!
