Looks like the water outlets will be a clearance problem with the trunk.
I don't know where I put my notes, but I think my Maxima V6 is a bit bigger on all dimensions. You're engine lid should not be a problem, you can cut the crossbar if really needed. I didn't need to. I'll have my engine out to do bay painting et al next month so if you need pics or ??? hit me up. I get to make a new upper intake manifold this winter... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) I'm trying really, really, hard not to put a turbo in at the same time (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) As useful as the fab'd upper rad inlet is with it's airbleeder, I sorta wish I used a 96ish Golf rad instead. A little taller at ~14 3/8" but sits flat on top so making a trunk divider would be easier & prettier. Oh, and don't put the water filler on the pressure side... no matter how well it sits in the bay. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif) Took a long time to figure that bugger out. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) "Where, O, where is my hot water going??" Chris |

Ok, found my notes...
front to mounting face - 20" tranny overhang - 8" with 11" from top down top to bottom - 27.5" oil filter stuck out the front an extra 1.5" but I went with a remote filter. With the new manifold, tranny overhang will be about 3" which will keep it out of the trunk. Chris Attached image(s) |

motor is in the car for test fitting (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
it's going to be tight, right now the transmission is moved about 1" to 1.5" forward....it looks like I'm going to have to modify the trunk wall a little to play it on the safe side... Attached image(s) |

did some more "fooling" around with the motor...it's not going to work without doing the following:
transmission=at the rear on the 2 "ears", mounts need to be relocated at least 1" lower and moved foward at least 2" firewall= needs to be modified by cutting or "massaged" with a BFH, one inch on the passanger side and about 2" on the drivers side (only the width of the motor)....I need to drop the oil pan and see if I can make it lower profile, if I can, i might not have to modify the firewall as much I knew the motor wouldn't just bolt in, but these mods are going to be a PITA, to make matters worse, my roll cage could be in the way on the drivers side depending on how much I need to modify the firewall (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) |

IMHO, For what it's worth. Cut the trunk stuff and move the engine back.
Avoid cutting the passanger compartment firewall. You need to maintain some space where the cables come out of the lower bulkhead. I had some serious clearance issues with the cables. What's the oil pan made out of? If the motor is too low you could modify the pickup tube and cut the pan. |

You need to maintain some space where the cables come out of the lower bulkhead. I had some serious clearance issues with the cables. What's the oil pan made out of? If the motor is too low you could modify the pickup tube and cut the pan. I cut the trunk wall and installed transmission in stock location..it's ugly, but not beyond being FUBAR'd I hope (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif) targa top hits the motor when I tried to put it in the trunk and the rear trunk lid hits the top of the engine as well when I close the lid.. in the picture in this post, you'll see the red outlines for where I might have to "bump" the firewall, not too drastic and I do not have to touch the original engine shelf (I'm pretty sure) right now (no picture) there is about an inch of space on the drivers side between the firewall and the belt tensioner. On the passanger side, I have about 2" of space between the motor and the firewall. i'm going to make new transmission mounts and experiment with a few different sizes (I'll vary the amount transmission is lowered and moved forward.) The oil pan is steel, once I remove it and figure out how much I can shorten it, I'll do so (IMG:style_emoticons/default/welder.gif) on a side note, I told the wife of the engine conversion tonight, she was not impressed when I told her it'll have twice the power of the stock motor..her response?? "does not matter if it does not run" ouch !!!! ........i mentioned something about being the 1st person to do this swap, even while on the phone, I knew she was rolling her eyes while saying sarcasticly "oh great" (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) |

Good thing you didn't use ProE (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) Don't feel bad we see it all the time at our company in the design phase of multimillion dollar equipment. At least these are mechanical hurdles which I'm sure you can solve. Electrical can be the real PITA.

Felix I need to have my brain and tape measure re-calibrated (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I really thought it was going to fit better before I bought the adapter…oh well, time to make it work (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smash.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/welder.gif) |

these pictures are with the transmission bolted to the stock location....plenty of space in front of the motor now.
