Nobody has addressed the fact that these have to be older cars. It's really hell to try to "powerslide" a front wheel drive car (IMG:style_emoticons/default/burnout.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smoke.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/slap.gif)

If you hate the old toyotas, you should do a little looking around the web. There are some really cool things happening. club4ag.com is one place to look. There are lots of really neat old japanese cars being rediscovered.

I saw the show, they have some neat stuff going on but I just can't get into. The winner is determined through judging, it has nothing to do with the time around the race track. 914 don't like being driven with the ass hainging out. THey tend to do things like snap around on you. Try a 911 it would be much better suited to this. Grassroots Motorsports has a big article on it this issue.
It would be better if they were using WOO cars. 900hp alcohol injected winged wonder children that drive better sideways than in a straight line would be way cooler. |

Im not going to get into an import vs import battle (?). I just think the corolla is more of an economy car, and was built like that from the factory. Yes, people have made them very quick and such, but the thought of driving that caliber car is just funny to me. I know it can be done and has been done. I went to a drift event in irwindale last year and it was something you have to see for yourself. I dont consider myself a porsche elitist (hell, i drive a vw (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)) considering most of the cars I really like are American.
I understand drifting is a popular sport and brings a lot of people into motorsports, so for that its important. Im just saying I dont like it... thats it. Its not bad or stupid or anything like that... I dont like watching it because I dont like the cars. I would MUCH rather watch an R8 grace the track then a corolla/legend/240sx. |
