I just got this pic from my co-worker that went to the Porsche museum in Stuttgart.

Enjoy!

No letters on the engine grill - was that not factory, or not an early car feature?

That's the Dr.s 8 cylinder car.

Notice the flares, weird bumper tops, etc.

Dragon - change your title - there is no way that a post on one of 2 factory 914-8s is off topic.

Maybe add that to the topic title too, so others can see what it's really about! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Maybe I've been looking at mine for too long, but I don't care for the looks of the bumper pad, flares or round mirror on that one.....

Engine grill letters were US only. Car was marketed as a VW Porsche ROW

Round mirror was off the 911. Notice TWO DIFFERENT locations in the pictures. One is in the regular location, the other one is mounted ala 911 on the door frame edge

Early photos from the PORSCHE magazine "Christophorus". The color pic was published in 1969. Note that both the red car and the b&w photo car show round mirrors and the b&w photo depicts a fully upholstered front trunk.

The color photo was in the English #86, April 1970 issue. There are two color photos on the back inside cover.
