damn, torque is gud (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) I think it has a 3.6L in it. Very nice driving car. I could easily drive one as my daily driver. One thing, I found the shifting "odd", but thats prolly cause I am so used to my 914 shifting. This thing hugged the road like a sports car should, but when we hit rough pavement, it just floated over smoothly. Very responsive steering. But the one thing that jarred me outta my happy little world time and time again, was the brakes. This thing could stop on a dime. Me likes it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/w00t.gif)

Another 911 convert!! Are we going to have to start 911club.com?
In many ways I think the 993 is one of the best bangs for the buck. For $35K or so you get a ~300hp Porsche. If you want big HP it's the way to go. |

I had a 1997 Carrera S. One of the best 911's ever.
The 993's were 270hp in 1995 and 282hp in 1996 and after. Don't forget that these are modern and fairly heavy cars. My 914 has a better power to weight ratio than most any naturally aspirated porsche road car. dr Attached image(s) |

993's are the shizzle
I want one BAD for a street car, but everytime I say Ill keep it a street car i get this urge to... gut the interior, weld in a cage and slide down that steep slope again LOL is there a 12 step program for my ailment? Seriously though I want a 911 type daily driver. had a 3.2 it was nice.... Im still wavering between a 993 or a stock early MFI car |

If you want an air cooled 911 with AC that works, power to spare, comfort and convenience, the 993 is it. We (wife drove it most of the time) had one for a couple of years. The prices are coming down and it is a buyer's market according to Bruce Anderson. It is not a do-it-yourself maintenance car unless you're a lot more mechanic than me. Because of the angle of the hose to the oil tank it takes forever just to add a quart of oil. Try to pour it like a normal car and you have oil on the floor the next day and take it to the shop to ask about the oil leak! Have to drop the exhaust to change the plugs. Plan on pro service and write a big check every 15K miles. Great car!

as much as I like my '91 C2 w/3.6, I wish we had spent a few more bucks to get a 993...the time/money saved by not having to do valve adjustments would pay for itself in just a few years (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
the 993 is an awesome car (IMG:style_emoticons/default/pray.gif) |

993 series is the last 911 to ride and sound like a '911'. It will be a classic as it was the last. Its heavier than its predecessors and a bit sluggish to my feel but corners like on rails. Ones with low mileage are holding very good value. Its very computerized and I cant work on mine but some of you guys can and that will make having one much more affordable. If you can, do it. You wont look back. But there's nothing that runs and feels like a 914 either (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol2.gif)

Mike, didn't the 993s cost a lot more when you bought your C2? Look what I bought while you were away:
http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?act...=15357&hl=911sc You were the trendsetter with the black 911. I think there are several on the board now. |

yea, the 993's were about 10k higher in price than mine...we paid (actually, my wife bought the car for me, I only have to pay for maintainence items (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) ) $28K for the C2....and it came with extra parts that I sold off (and I kept the money, am I bad or what?, hahahaha)
