Not sure, I didn't know you were planning to attend the Route 66 Run this year (IMG:style_emoticons/default/poke.gif)

I'm not...no car (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Should have it back from paint in about 2 weeks and then the real work starts...reassembly, wiring repair, interior etc....

Its going to be a shit ton of work!
You have a Boxter, don't you? I've done the run in Toyota trucks many times - too many times, yes, but it's still a fun gig, no matter what you drive.

When driving at night got tired of having invisible heater and fresh air controls. Added a LED behind the sliders tied into the dash LEDs. The backlighting is faint and not distracting.

Agreed, but need to stay local that weekend as well and would also like to check out LUFTGEKÜHLT 5 here in LA.

Oh I will; as soon as Apple returns my laptop. Apparently they cannot withstand a dousing with a good red Cab. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/hissyfit.gif) I should have it back this week and I’ll “tell all” in my build thread. What a week! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

2 hours that I will never get back! That's how long it took took get the bleedin' fresh air box in place.

What a job! Trim the grill, slice the rubber seal to get the grill to slide in deeper. And then getting that fragile clicky/cracky box to line up the bolt holes.

I don't even know if it works (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif)

And I snapped the 7mm pinch bolt too.

Removed the cylinder head from my 2.0 on Sunday and drilled and heli-coiled the A.I.R. tube hole one port today. I had to open up the hole a little to fit the over sized heli-coil tap, but everything worked out well. I was a little worried that the insert wouldn't sit properly, but upon close examination, it's perfect. I made sure to use red loctite to ensure that its permanent.

Got some goodies in the mail today, I'm hoping this steering wheel cover kit is not at bad as a few reviews I've read about it. I bought it from Automotion and did not realize it was an Alan Gunn kit which has mixed reviews.

A few people recommended I use a stand alone steering column to help with the install, being too cheap to pay for one or even pay for the shipping when one was offered to me for free I drew the contraption below up. I will be able to rotate it from 0° up to 90°.

A big thank you to mark at 914 rubber. He noticed the issue I had with my door edge rubbers (originally bought from him) and sent me a replacement pair which arrived this morning.

On another good note I fitted the remaining air box bits & associated cables etc. Just have to order 3 new cable clamp bolts from Porsche and hopefully job's a goodun.

And onto the next job ......

Installed the correct early dash pad with the larger opening above the glove box. Also went back to the original basket weave seats and installed my black/grey CoCo mats.

Getting closer to having seats in the Ghia. Hosed off the passenger's side floor pan clip after blasting it clean, will prime and test fit to see how much needs trimmed off ...

...then check the dimensions for correct mounting position ...

Once I get the seating issue out of my hair (wife wants to drive the car), I can devote time to the 'BB' again (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Nice work on the Ghia. All I got done today was cutting the hood for my gas flap and fittiedmy Turbo with AN fittings. Tomorrow I may finish the plumbing for the turbo.

With too many concurrent projects going, it's little by little, bit by bit ...

Ghia passenger floor pan clip primed today ...

And an errant 912 heat exchanger was recently found and blasted a couple weeks ago. This got the 2000° Rustoleum paint (IMG:style_emoticons/default/shades.gif)

Checked status on the Vanagon's 1.9L wasserboxer rebuild yesterday. Yep, sucked a valve (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) ... the case has been cleaned and the parts to build it up to a 2.1L are on order (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

The XT250 is all back together except for installing a new chain (which was delivered today). Annual desert camping trip coming up in less than a month (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mueba.gif)

914 content: I stopped by EMW this passed Tuesday, picked up new flywheel bolts for the 1.9L motor build on the '71 914 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)
