So, I take off in my Karmann Ghia to go to the bank this afternoon, and I get about a mile away from my house when I hear a jackhammer sound.

It's sticking with me, so I push in the clutch and it's my car. Shit. I U-turn, head back to the barn and back the car in. I'm thinking muffler, but it's a pretty concussive sound.

I turn it off, look around underneath, and nothing looks out of place and nothing is hanging off. I open the engine lid and start it, and it's really loud. Oh, there it is, my cylinder #4 spark plug is laying on the engine tin sparking away. I turn it off and grab tools.

Plug is screwed back in, snugged up, and everything is fine. I thought I had noticed a lack of power as of late. Much better now. I love easy fixes!!

Drove the piss out of it on the twisty backroads with the local R Gruppe hooligans and ended up eating a sandwich. It was a good sandwich.

Took my new 14" Falken Azenis and "new to me" Dan Gurneys to the tire shop to have them mounted & balanced. Then I put them on the car....will need to lower the car a little in the future, but right now back to bodywork.Attached Image Attached Image

Looks like you may need to roll the rear fender lips (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif)

Yep...depending on how much I lower the car. These particular Gurneys are actually a VW offset, so they push the wheels out farther than normal. Got the wheels & tires super cheap, so it might not be the final option. If needed, I'd rather switch out the wheels than roll the fenders.

Nice!~

Compared to the top refurb I did today, your work is quite impressive...... New rubber and SS screws + paint and new headliner install does not compare to the beautiful bodywork and primer in your pix / Nice!!

Some day I will do that as well.. Those wheels look great.. Tire selection is so limited I opted for the paint set up.. Until I decide what I want to do. Attached Image

bought a new windshield from porsche. drove exceptionally carefully on the way home.

the old one came out quite easily and the residue from the butyl tape wiped off with panel wipe.

couldn't get the new tape until tomorrow so a couple of little jobs done. touched up some installation chips on the rocker covers, found out the the trunk wouldnt close as the hinge was catching on a nut. likely a po put the hinge bracket on a little low.

fitted the rear lights, left the old lenses on until i finished sanding/polishing the trunk lid.

hopefully will be able to get a 4 wheel alignment next week, then i can drive it on the roads while i sort the remaining little things out.
