Bought a companion for our 73 914... we loved the color and the history of fine mechanic’s who have worked on it. Our mechanic Chris worked at the Seattle Porsche-Audi dealer during the time this car was purchased.

I blocked up the front foil about 2" off the floor just to see it. In the picture the foil is tilted at 10°. I like it and will try to get it to sit 3" off the ground mounted on the car. I have ordered 4" wheels and will put them on the pivot point for the foil. They should keep the nose off the ground. I have a color in mind and may paint the foil before mounting it.

Well I haven't been posting much, or working-on or driving my cars, but I am getting back into some 914 projects. Last weekend, new Momo steering wheel and Dansk muffler.

Assembled my steering column today with the 914 rubber clam shells and the switches I got from Mark Epstein.

For some reason the right stalk is very very close to the steering wheel.. No idea why.

Do you have 911 switches and not 914/6 switches?

The 914/6 switch levers are flatter and are closer to perpendicular to the column. They are shorter and don't have the double curve of later model 911 levers. The lever functions are sticker graphics on the clam shells, not the lever ends.

Compare yours to the pictures below.

The first picture is a salvaged steering column assembly from a 1971 914/6, VIN 9141430335.

Attached Image

Picture 2 shows the straight levers and the function graphics on the clam shells.

NOTE: clam shell on the left is 911.

Fixed my wire feed so I can do some welding. Now I can drop the front of the car and finish mounting the wing. Working on the front suspension now. Moving the spindle up 30mm.

Adjusted the hook of the engine lid, after it popped open three times today. One of the easiest work I have done to my car, but it fixed an annoying problem.

Have to wait to drop the front suspension I'll keep going forward with the wing.
