Thank you Sir Andy! Now I know it ALL, right? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I consider myself educated - re: Volkswagon boxer engines......at least.........

I blew out the cobwebs and gave it a test drive after swapping over to 5 lug and Boxster brakes this winter.

As I'm a 914 novice/ignoramus - what is a "type 4" engine? = The 4th generation of VW aircooled 4cylinder aka a 914 engine

As I've never driven any 914 in my life, I can't see how I'd notice and almost unnoticeable slow throttle response! Heck, with only 87hp, I wouldn't think it had any throttle response at all! - exactly! If it's running good, just enjoy! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Question: Original Owner's Manual says engine is 84hp. Elsewhere I've read 100. Which is true? Will the Weber 44's help any?

Depends on engine size and if it's a CA car

TIA,

GN

Looks like i finally got hit by the infamous DME relay failure.

Got a spare but it's for the wrong socket (yeah i know, should have checked that when i bought it), so now i'm trying to get a correct one, adapt my newer one and/or fix the broken one.

My original 1986 date coded DME relay failed in 2017. I fixed a cracked solder joint and it tested OK, now it's my spare.

The relay tested out OK, found the problem shortly thereafter ...

I eliminated the problematic DME relay in my harness. Replaced it with solid state Bosch relays. I can even get a replacement at FLAPS if needed. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Installed Spoke’s rear LED turn signal and backup lights. Last week I did the LED brake light. What a difference; these LED light board are a perfect fit and made to a high standard. Best safety related upgrade on my 914

Lesseee......about 4 hours on the Teen today, lotsa small stuff. Gave up waiting to find an old left front marker light - both base and lense were seriously damaged.....but found a way to restore both so I doubt even a car-show judge would notice - only problem is I lost the black rubber piece that goes between the two - it's gotta be here somewhere......anyone has a spare, I'll pay you for it.....

Ready to put tank in and connect fuel line (return not use with carbs) after I get some new fittings from Dr914@autoatlanta.com - as the tubing pieces are obsolete, I'll rig some up myself. Can't believe I let the tank restore guy lose the originals - my bad....part of getting old.....you miss details.......

A productive day in little things....
