Today I pressurised the window wash system. Or so I tried. First the connection to the wheel was leaking air, so I fixed that, only to find out that when pressurised the system likes to leak the fluid out of the switch all over the dashboard (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif)

So I decided to ditch the entire system. And just run a pump.

I've read the tutorial here in the classics, the one from Andy. And although I like the option for the stalk, I opted for the cheaper and quicker way just to add an temporary button (I need to have it all working in 14 days and at this point I don't want to go and mess with to much stuff).

So while I wait for the pump to come in I made a bracket with an always off switch to connect to the pump when it comes in. I just used a bolt from the center console to mount it. So I can take it out when I do it properly with the stalk.

Looks decent enough.

Also I found this big amplifier underneath my dash (IMG:style_emoticons/default/screwy.gif)

Swapped out the MPH speedo for an (250) km/h one. The km/h one needed some work, but after a quick fresh-up it looks good as new.

Installed the original fog light switch that controls the front and rear fog light(s) separately. To indicate the mode the switch lights up dim for one setting and bright for the other.

Not locked down anymore as we are on level 2 and level 1 should be around 2 weeks away.
Just small jobs but knocking the list back, got the aux power supply fused @ the battery and put in a secret fuel pump stop switch for security reasons and to isolate pump while doing other work "key on".

I adjusted my valves (first time) which turned into quite the project. I'm a big guy (6'7 280 lbs) so there's no way I could get my meat hooks up into the head without dropping the exhaust. Everything went very smoothly and it only took me about an hour to get everything adjusted.

I realized after having put everything back together that I really need to invest in a nice set a headers. Having to deal with all the extra pieces attached to the heat exchangers isn't worth it since the car will be on jack stands during cold months.

A suggestion for you...

Next time just drop the motor and transmission. It will make the valve adjustment much easier, and you can do other maintenance like replacing the alternator belt easily. It only takes about 30 minutes to drop the motor, and it only costs you two CV gaskets.

I drop the motor to adjust valves on any six, that way the oil gets changed too.

And another question for you....

How was a 6'7" guy actually fit in the driver's seat of a 914???? I want to see a picture!!

111953519G or 91461381515 wiper switch also has a separate wire for the pump.
This wire is +12v to the pump.
When i pull the stalk towards me, it turns on the pump and washes the window. Mine also has the intermittent wiper option, so i can pull the stalk, wash the window and engage the intermittent wiper function.

With what appears to be brown wires, did you simply cut the ground to the pump with the switch?
I've been thinking of doing something similar....

That's what I did on mine - put the switch the ground wires (mounted the switch up under the dash. So, while you can cut either side,, I prefer to use the ground wires, so there's not a live wire under there when I'm working on other stuff or fumbling around blindly trying to find the dern switch by feel.

Thank you, I know, but it will be for this winter. Right now the focus is on getter it ready for driving.

Hard mounted my 2.5# fire extinguisher in the 6 using a Rennline universal mount. Had to cut down the aluminum shafts that the plate mounts on because the 914 seat rails are too narrow to their "universal" spec. Seems overly complex on some levels but fits really well once customized and installed:

Washed it up for the drive tomorrow. "Someone" was breaking in new tires and there was tire soot all over the back end (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif) also wanted to make sure the oil was all off from my last attempt to go to a drive
