@Jett
The 69S is a special engine. I sold one in core condition for $20k.

Ya, it was a special deal from a friend who pulled the motor 25years ago... Once he knew it was going in a 914 the price fell below 10k (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) but sure it will take a bit to rebuild her.

Started digging into the rear light wiring. PO was clearly feeling “creative” when they did what they did ...

Fabricated some 1x1x1/8 square tubing braces and cut the passenger side longs out. Good day in the shop

It was the local PCA chapter's Founder's Day celebration.

It started with a car meet (Mav and Mochas) in the morning. My wife and I met up with @ClayPerrine and @Betty , and we headed to the meet. While we were there, we ran into @desullivan!

Then there was a car show and outdoor lunch gathering at Porsche Grapevine. Four 914s in the car show, and Josh (who needs to join world!) won the 914 class with his orange '76.

Weather was beautiful so, I took the '74 for a little ride and then installed a new set of inner and outer door seals from 914rubber. (Thanks guys!)

Gonna drive it some more tomorrow. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Mike, @mueller that hockey puck looks great. I would shoot it the same color as the steering wheel spokes, but that is just me. Have you considered a 5-lug Fuchs center cap for the cap? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Michael, I think my wheel is bare metal and rust (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol-2.gif)

@Cairo94507

Revised version, I like this one better. A few more pics on my main build thread.
Hard to see the 7 degree taper on the part.

Well I have not been working on mine much lately, but I did put in a new fuel pump yesterday and then "cleared out the carbs" with a short sunset drive.

I've been using Holley Red fuel pumps with this engine and they're known for being loud, which is very true so I'm looking at an Osram or other replacement/upgrade now. This is a race plumbed setup with AN-6 and solid lines.

drove the car sunday after replacing a couple soft fuel lines, the one from the left side rail to the cold start valve was leaking! those hoses were new 5 years ago, but this one for some reason was also a bit loose. i have proper clamps etc , not sure why it was other than i think it was shorter thet it should be so no slack, , all good now! car loves the cool weather, and should be ready for a run down to Florida to need up with some other Teeners in N. Florida saturday for a PCA gathering at the St. Augustine Classic Car Museum, and a special 914 display! looking forward to meeting up with some old friends and meeting new ones. as a bonus i get to see my oldest daughter and bring the son-in-law with, they live just 30 miles south of there so good excuse to come visits them.
still don’t have wipers working that will wait- i did put a new sticker in the windshield!!
...

btw hard to believe a modern beetle looks so much larger than a 914 when parked next to each other

Ben, @mb911 WOW! That is a huge deal -the front fenders are now painted and installed. How long before it is in the road now? You have got to be close.

Oh the horror! I drove it in the rain and it got wet. Not to worry, I will take time on Sunday to put it on the lift and clean it back like new. I said I was going to drive it and drive is what I do. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) OH - I see my little girl, Roxanne (miniature wiener doggie) made it into the photo. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)
