@Bucci ,
By the way, my opinion.
Never store your car in a heated garage that makes rust grow faster.
Frozen or cold slows everything down..!

My experience has been the opposite, a heated/dry space is far superior to an unheated space. What is your 20? (location)

Temperatures are very mild in California, I prefer cooler spaces the rust seems to be slow to corrode.

Broke out of hibernation for the first "swell up the gaskets and mitigate the oil leaks" therapy of 2021. Day trip to Arches National Park just over the border in UT. Despite all the sunshine it was a little too windy and chilly to pop the top.Attached Image Attached ImageAttached Image

Finally broke the right side axle nut loose!
Pulled axles, and started CV inspection.
One boot was previously replaced with wrong type.
Measure up the new axles for 4 lug outers and

Started fitting the rocker panels on the 75. What a PIA with the back and fourth, on and off, drilling holes, etc..... but, they are about 85% now.
Waiting for the spacers that fit on the ends, which arrive tomorrow, and then we'll wrap them up.
@Mikey914 thanks for the tip of the allen head screws there. Much easier then the screw driver would have been.
Thanks @rgalla9146 for pointing out what they were!

Drove it for the first time in 5 months.

Back in the fall I discovered leaking fuel line so parked for a bit. Replaced fuel line in December and then the fuel pump quit (IMG:style_emoticons/default/hissyfit.gif)
The past few days have been unseasonably warm (and rainy) but was mid-70s and the rain had stopped. So... swapped out the fuel pump and filter then took a short drive around the "country" block. Man, I love this car!

Keeping on with learning to weld...

Had to put the engine tin aside. Waiting on some tools to arrive to help with fixturing. So, today was door brace day. A very different kind of welding.

Brackets in the footwell:

The lower turnbuckles are ready just ran out of light.
It was quite a lesson today.

Any feedback on the welding would be appreciated.
I think the spot welds are strong enough. I did test with a hammer and nothing fell off. Not shown but I did hit everything with some primer to cover up the bare steel.

Thank you! That's my dad and we're having a lot of fun with the restoration and putting it back together. The only thing we haven't done is the actual paint job, all the bodywork and prep was done in the garage.
It's going to get a white interior.

I now have operational gauges in the 914. These are Speedhut gauges with a GPS speedometer.

The gray sheetmetal just lays on top of the stock gauge mount. I did have to turn the lock nuts down on my lathe to fit into the openings for the the 2 smaller gauges.

Yes, I know I have the wrong screws in there. That will be fixed when I find the originals someplace in my messy garage.

A few more pics will be added to my thread.

Drove it thru some nice back country hills and curves....man this this just wants to spin the tires once I shift into 2nd gear...having a blast for sure. I adjusted the idle down to 650-700rpm and the wife commented how the 914 is almost quieter than her car, that is until I open it up.

I need a resonator or better muffler, the wife and kids can hear me from inside the house a block away when I get on it.
