i just wanted to start a thread to see what you guys do day to day on your cars.

i'll start,

about a month ago, i pulled my engine and trans to put in a new clutch. had the flywheel lightened and resurfaced. but what i didnt know is that i had to shim the little ball that the clutch arm rides on, after a resurfacing. so guess what i did today?

yup, pulled the trans and put an extra washer under the ball. you have to goop up both washers to get it to seal because the threaded hole goes all the way thru to the inside of the trans. i also replaced the plastic cup that the ball rides in. the throwout bearing and its little plastic blocks were fine so i buttoned every thing back up. 5 hours total. i think this has been the cheapest repair yet on my car. $2.75 for the little plastic cup.

what did you do to your 914 today?

Working on the electronics inside the air box. Josh through some changes at me and now I am making them happen. I had the box wired to take the signals on one post and the Arduino board wants them to be single post.

That's an amazing feat! Please post some details on this...I've considered this after I'm running and sorted but I might be fine as is. I know the engine is stout enough for massive power and I wanna see some dyno numbers! Sweet build, Pipe!

The air box is back together with all the changes Josh wanted. I'll probably have to change the direction of some of motors after Josh hooks up the Arduino board but that's just a minor thing.

Once we get all the testing done I can put all this stuff back in the car.

Replaced tail shifter bushing and shift rod bellows with new ones from 914Rubber. Perfect fits. Old ones (30+ yrs) kinda shot...
Got a nifty sticker also...

And to build on this - Ingo Schmitz is the go-to guy for 3.2/3.6 ecu’s. He’s mostly on pelican but I have his contact info if you need it. I know there are other people. I’ve had experience with some of them. Ingo keeps getting my business. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Went for a drive in the 73 Delphi 2.0. Put on the new steering wheel, and a few missing black plastic clips for the drivers arm rest.

Nothing as I watched racing for most of the day, starting with Zandvoort, followed by indycar, and Darlington...

But pretty neat to see all the Porsche police cars taking the F1 drivers on their parade laps before the race, even INCLUDING at least one 914!

I now need a new coil… easy fix..

While at it, I will have an oil change, new sparks, oil temp sensor replacement, valve cover check for leaks, webers jetting reviewed, and final timing check. Before INSPECTIONS

Just needed a new coil, for some reason it failed, and blew up inside, replaced and we are back on the road.

Just added a first oil change, sparks, checked for a leak on one of the heads and no more oil in the cockpit for us, checked time carburation, and jetting
