Got tired of all the leaks so cleaned the oily grime off the underside of the engine due to leaky valve cover gaskets and swapped the leaking gearbox for the original unit.
While it was on jack stands, I adjusted the valves. Once back on the ground, changed the oil, adjusted the clutch, and took a short drive with my wife.
My wife generally shows no interest in the 914 but today she mentioned going for a ride. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)
So after a fuel stop, I asked if she wanted to drive. After some adjustments such as seat all the way forward and the passenger seat cushion behind her back so that she could reach the pedals, we headed down the road.

Our conversation went something like this:
"So... you like the 914 for being a small car and low to the ground. What else?"
"Handling."
"Yeah, I can see that." as she moved the wheel back and forth. "Very quick steering." (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving-girl.gif)
"If you are feeling daring, go past our turnoff," I suggested. It's a road my granddaughter and I call the Baby Dragon (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif)
As she drove the curvy section of road, she remarked, "Yeah, I can see how this could be fun." (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Happy 9/14 all month long!

Installed new covered dash and door panels. Function over form, eliminated pockets and installed new door pulls.

Finished rebuilding my Bosch Fanfare horns I picked up on ebay.de a couple of weeks ago. One cleaned and trumpet replaced with a better condition spare I have, the short one totally refurbished. Although I'm not quite happy with the impossible to remove stains. Another part ticked off the very long list to my planned GT conversion - until I find a NOS set that is........

I drove my daughter to her first day of school in my SIX. It's her last day she needs a driver to start school; next year she will have her license. I also picked her up at the end despite the rain. My kid loves the 914 so making memories was my plan.

You're a brave man, sir. More, no, much more than I. I would never consider allowing my better half in the left seat.

My daughter may be a different story tho... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Thanks to Jim Hoyland's rapid shipping, I got my dash project done a day or two early.

Defrost vents filled and dash recovered. Fresh air controls filled on dash face. Now I just need a windshield....

Though the Audi did well a few years back, it will be good to see your 914 on the twisties (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif)

Brought the '75 out of the body shop and into the light!!

All set to go to Calf Pasture Beach car night to show it off, and the alternator light was glowing..... So I didn't go.

I disconnected the battery for the night and will run it over to Tony's Auto Service in the afternoon...

Well, I will try to get it over to Dragone's for their Friday Night get together and see how it is received there....Attached Image

Since I have three events coming up where I can show my 914, decided to design a "car show" poster for my LE (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Attached Image

Oh, and, no, that is not my LE at the top... thanks to "Johnny Blackstain" for the photo of his gorgeous, all original Creamsicle which will be used as the source image for a portion of the Okteenerfest shirt design.

Passed by the 'BB' several times in the past couple of days, and wondering when I'm gonna get to drive it again (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

Had a friend come by and help dig up a bevy of large magnolia tree roots and installing a sprinkler system in our front yard. Tough work in the blistering sun, so we're taking a break and will continue with constructing the distribution manifold and installing valves on Monday. I 'might' try to take a little drive on Saturday if feeling up to it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

I like it, but one could argue that I am biased. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif) After 9 years my Optima 34R has taken a death dive & I had to order a new one (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif) Can't really complain because 9 years is a good long life for any battery. Still, no wet cell in this car as long as I'm alive. The time for getting the car ready for Okteenerfest is now.
