Amazing it is Mark. Took me around 15 mins to get the rear parts off and attempt to memorize how they went back together and how they all work together. The shifter area I had been in before so I knew what to expect while in there. Took around an hour the next day to install and button up the rear as well as install and button up the shifter area. Feels sooo much better to drive now.
I can now get back to teaching my newly 16 year old daughter how to drive it. If she can drive it, she can drive anything (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) And I have a salvage title Boxster she can drive if she does what she's supposed to!

Last night at auto shop class, mounted and balanced a set of new tires onto a set of TRD wheels I recently picked up for the parts hauler.

Went with a narrower tire this time, should help to provide improved fuel consumption. Toyo Open Country AT/S 225/75-16.

Just finished cleaning up two, will get the others done mañana (IMG:style_emoticons/default/FERG.gif)

I put a 'For Sale' sign on the 'BB'. A few people have stopped and asked "how much?" … told them "a lot" (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) (I knew they were just tire-kickers)

Have a friend doing a PPI for me tomorrow - on this (IMG:style_emoticons/default/drooley.gif)

Dropped the '73 off with Jeff at Checkpoint Auto in Marrietta to check out my recent hot start problem. They think the solution is to do the relocation of the fuel pump so we'll be doing that today and changing out some of the original fuel lines. Also asked him to check out the rear sag.

Your rear springs are probably tired. Replaced mine with 100 lb springs and she looks good. Got them from Auto Atlanta in Marietta.

Thanks, Terry. I suspect I'll need to go that route. We need to get a cars and coffee in ATL. Just talked to another guy (Dee) who just completed a deal on a driver six that is being shipped from california. Harve is here and I know I've spoken with 4-5 others.

Finally got some finish color on the rear deck lid. Went well with minimal problems. Nice to see the finish color. Really motivated to finish up the rest of the bodywork and get it all shiney. Shot satin black on all the fiberglass parts a couple of weeks ago. Attached ImageAttached Image

I got a gallon of EASTWOOD satin black rubber coating to black out the center of my Lindsey wheels. I like them better than full polish. Attached Image Attached Image

Stopped by the shop to pick up a set of tires/wheels that I need to drop off in Oceanside Sunday morning. Decided to stick around and gathered up parts to finish putting a 616 (912) motor back together.

Unfortunately, the parts I needed were in different boxes in several different places in the shop, but I finally found everything. Also sorted some other parts I ran across. Still don't have everything separated properly (by car) yet, but I'll eventually get that task done.

Need to order some O-rings for the head bolts and cut new intake manifold gaskets to finish the job. Also found another set of Italian Weber carbs … maybe I'll toss them on my wife's new Ghia (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif)

I handled some 914 parts at different times throughout the day - does that count?

Installed new clutch cable and adjusted (correctly). Finally no more grinding of gears for reverse and third.

That little snap-on clevis thingy to attach the cable to the pedal is a real beeatch to install - if only because it is in a terrible location and impossible to see.

If beer drinking Germans can do it at the factory, I don't see the problem (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

Nice Lawrence. Even after measuring 3x, were you nervous? It would still scare the crap out of me.

Now, paint the raw edges and top it off with a big rubber grommet (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif)
