Update: The body & paint came out very nice. Unfortunately, they burned up the Pertronix when they were trying to get the turn signals wired up again. Since they are body guys, and not mechanics, and since the $$ was coming out of their own pocket, it took awhile before they got on it. They had a mech friend look at it last week, and his verdict was they burned up the dizzy. I think he meant they fried the Pertronix again. The body shop owner was going to double-check on that & get back to me. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/av-943.gif) On the bad side, Steve (sww914) has disappeared. Won't return phone messages, nor emails for the last couple of weeks. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) It looks like I'm going to be stuck with the remainder of the bill. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/hissyfit.gif) Very unfortunately, this really bothers me. My faith in my fellow man has taken a serious downturn. I'm hoping the body shop will let me make payments, so I can get the car back & put it back up for sale. The saga continues...... Small claims court. |

Small claims court. He & his family live on a sail boat. No fixed address. Last I heard they were in Oceanside, Ca. I doubt he could be found, should he decide not to be found. I don't know the law but it might still be a benefit to go through with court. |

Sad but if it is true the hard part might be getting him served. Go Small Claims, 10K maximum in CA. Go get the judgment and have it recorded against him. Should be good for 10 years. Send copies to the credit reporting agencies.....

In a small claims case, the plaintiff is required to serve the defendant with a notice to appear.

Latest update:
I was told by the body shop that they had a mechanic friend look at the car to see why it wouldn't run. The mechanic told them the dizzy had a broken ground wire, and the coil wasn't putting out enough. I stopped by & pulled the dizzy & had Cap'n Krusty do a rebuild, and stopped by GPR (conveniently across the street) and got a new Pertronix coil to go with the new Pertronix module in the dizzy. Installed both of them yesterday. Turned the key to prime the fuel pump and..... no buzz from the fuel pump. I installed a brand new one a month or so before loaning out the car. Checked all the fuses, shuffled the relays, no joy. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) Time to replace the fuel pump next week & see if I can't get it to run. I HATE THIS!!!!
