As the title says- is it ok to break in an engine in cold weather? I am getting close to having my rebuild ready for break-in. It is about 30 degrees outside. If ok, what weight break in oil should I use?

I can warm the garage up before opening the door to start it up. Anyone else done this? |

I would bet that 60% of all Porsches have been broken in during winter weather conditions. Seriously, consider the source.
If you're talking about the first start, I would try to warm up the oil. Otherwise, just drive the car. Once it's running and warmed up, the engine doesn't know it's winter. |

For the initial 25-30 minute break-in run, I would first recommend just letting the motor be either warmed first by being in a heated garage OR by putting a space heater near it for an hour or so. This is just so the oil isn't like engine honey. At 2500-3K RPMs it'll heat-up very quickly anyway.

I know my halogen shop light puts out a ton of heat. Jack up the car if you need to and stick a light underneath it for an hour.
