Im attempting to remove the fan from the alternator and it looks to me like i use the allen bolt to hold the shaft and turn the fan bolt counterclockwise? Im torquing it very hard and it wont budge so i figured id ask before i break something (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Nope... it's just pressed on the shaft
There's a slot in the both the shaft and the fan for a cotter pin thingy (dunno the right english word, sorry) that keeps the fan from rotating on the shaft It can be on there pretty tight You can use a rubber mallet to tap the shaft and try to wiggle the fan off Just be gentle and patient (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Attached image(s)

Jeoren nailed it. The fan is semi pressed onto the shaft. Some come off easy.. others are a pain in the neck.
