The round grill badge... classic style. Like the Porsche one a couple pages up. But... that's just me. Talk amongst yourselves.

I wasn't going to say anything but I'd also prefer a more classic, retro looking badge.

I like the original. From the "previous" club. Where's gint. It's on his avatar. But I would take one of those new 914club oval pins...

Well I put this in the other thread so I'll put my 1 cent in here as well. I like the original Porsche crest badge as well but would prefer a better color selection. My suggestion was Orange and silver with black as a 3rd choice. Seems like a pretty simple CNC prgram that could be cut in aluminum or brass, for some serious class, while hangin in the grass (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smoke.gif) castin for the bass, fillin up mah glass, listenin to mamma cass, hope that's not too crass :unsure:Might oughta keep the Porsche off the top though, seeing how they're so lawsuit happy lately (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/mad.gif) How about a big 'ol NARP across the top??? |

I like the older classic style too. It'd look good with the POC badge I already have on the grill.
Later, Don |

Ok. Everyone should start putting up drawings of their ideas, or pictures or whatever. Throw it out there. Maybe we'll get a few different, really good designs out of this.
How about we integrate a pinup girl. Classy look... Attached image(s) |

The oval looks sharp, but if given a choice I would go for the classic round format. I think some variation on the "original" would look great!

Well jeeze. Now I want a pinup girl. This ones going to be a tough project, especially with one reply in thirty minutes. What we need is some drawings. Who wants to submit one?
Pinup girl on the hood of a 914 with "914 Club" on the side. In kind of a "oldies" art style. Thick lines and such. |

Sean, I've also seen belt attachment loops and hooks epoxied to the back of badges to convert them to belt buckles. I think I have one at home, if I can find it this evening I'll post pictures.

I have a couple of spare "round-style with cogs" decklid badges, one with the Porsche (Stuttgart) emblem, and one with the classic German eagle design. Both badges are of excellent old-school quality, and both attach to the decklid grille via the usual studs and screw-on rubberized nuts. Both badges say MADE IN SPAIN (all caps) on the back.
I would like to send these decklid badges to any club members who have the time and energy to coordinate the manufacture of 914 Club badges, to serve as a template for measurements and etc. To guarantee good quality, I think we should use a well-known manufacturer who has made such badges for the PCA or a classic-car group. The design should be something that most club members would be proud to display. We should keep it simple, without a lot of lettering to clutter it up, and without the word Porsche on it. We are known as the 914 Club (not 914world.com or whatever) and we've been known as the 914 Club since day one, so that's what it should say. Anything else is just pandering to the clueless. Also, we should learn from the unfortunate experience of our club members who've used their own money to fund such things in the past. Ideally, sales of club badges should be through the 914 Club Store, with advance purchase by club members so the initial production run can be as optimal as possible. I'm in for at least two, regardless of if we're going retro, or using the oval. I really like both!!!
