That car has been for sale off and on for the past 3 years.

At the Ventura show a couple years ago it had a for sale sign it it for $21K.

Sorry I missed the festivities.... had to pick my wife up at the airport that morning.... which was a good thing anyway since she had been away for a week and I had been taking care of 2 kids, house + working.... my hat is off to single moms... not sure how they survive.

What a great swap! I may have even made enough to pay for gas (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Thanks Glenn for hosting again, and thanks for letting me toss unsaleable items in your scrap bin (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) It was great meeting so many people in person, and I managed to stay away from that Richard Simmons fella (I thought he looked more like Bob Dylan). And thanks to Slits for cooking!

QUOTE(Sammy @ Oct 25 2004, 11:12 AM)
Well, I feel better.
On the drive home guilt set in for hammering so hard on someone who obviously wasn't all there, now it sounds like I wasn't the only one bothered by this guy.
Licking my 46 mm crow's foot wrench was bad, but when he started arguing with me that my turbo won't work on an SC engine without blowing up (after I'd been driving it for a year with no problems at all) was enough. I wasn't even drinking beer, prolly a good thing.

Some people need to be told that they are obnoxious or full of BS or whatever, I felt he was one of those people who needed to be told.  :alfred:

BTW, there were two blue 914s parked right next to each other.
Boxter Bill's lighter blue car and a slightly darker metallic blue 914.
Both are great looking cars.
here's the ironic thing:
My first car was a 67 VW bug, which I painted the exact same color as Bill's 914.
A couple years later I bought my first 914, which I painted that exact same metallic blue color as the 914 parked next to Bill's car. Seeing both of those gorgeous 914s parked next to each other made me all nostalgic like. No, I didn't cry.
Who owns that sharp metallic blue 914? I like.

That darker metallic blue one was gorgeous ... so much so I forgot to get pics of it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

Sammy ... are you the same Sam that owned a V-8 914 named 'Vader'? Was back in my Rennlist days ...

Yup, that be me, Vader was my V8 914.

I've had a completely stock 71 1.7 liter (I loved that car), a turbo 2 liter, and a v8 914, the only thing missing is a 914/6. That be next if I ever get around to it.

It's way harder to find time to work on cars now with the new job and kids getting a little older, it took me almost 4 months to rebuild the engine in the 9 eleben!

It might take me another 10 years to build up the sixer. Until then I just live vicariously through you folks (IMG:style_emoticons/default/clap56.gif)

Dave, good thinking picking your wife up at the airport. Way better than having her follow you home (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon_bump.gif)

Very cool ... I think I remember your turbo 2 liter, too. I was kinda sad when I found out you sold it. But I guess Vader was a good upgrade. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I live vicariously through anyone that has time to work in the garage. I got married and had 3 kids in the 5 years I've owned my 914. I can barely find time to change oil in between diaper changes. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Ed, Glad you got a picture of this one, I didn't get a chance, had a nice paint job, he painted it himself. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif) There were alot of nice cars there. Bob Dylans twin brother crawled under the White 3.6 and started telling the owner all the things wrong with it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif)

Many thanks to everyone who showed up and even to those who have attended in the past and just couldn't make it. For what it's worth, NY Dave will be on a plane home first thing Wednesday morning. That SOB was one of the first people to get here and was the absolute last one to leave. I got in my car and left before he did. I think he was still talking when I pulled away. Maybe he hung around to go dumpster diving?! Anyway, I want to thank everyone for the donation money as well. We got a record amount for a D&G and easily paid for even the ice and donuts. Every expense was covered. THANKS!!!! I hope the food was good, SLITS did the cooking for me and it was a nice break. I found a few bargains and I hope all you vendors at least sold enough to make it worth while. See ya next time, Glenn (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Sounds like Richard Simmons may be worth having back again next year. You know guest speaker and all that.
Curtis, sweet looking 6. Ed nice slant nose, looks good with the 75-76 bumpers. Is the white 3.6 out of the LA area?? It looks very much like a white six that I saw in Reno when I went down to the PCNA tour a few years ago. Sponsered by the LA PCA region club.
CCLINGASFORPCA

The white six belongs to a guy named Jim Lamonica who lives in pioneer town approx. 20 miles north of palm springs.

Curtis Thanks for the update. I found my pics from the PCA event in Reno a few years ago. The white six there was the same one at Glenns.I am heading to Palm Desert for November, I may have to take a drive to Pioneer town.

so did "Fro-white and the 7 teeth" manage to alienate everyone? I've seen Jim's white 914-6 (3 point 6 that is) up close and it's done quite nicely. Very well thought out and sorted. It was for sale a few years ago, but it had a 3.2 in it back then. I think he got an offer in the 22k range, but had a change of heart. If the car ever goes back on the market, I may have to get a 2nd on the house.....

Wow, I thought that "thanks to Don & Glenn" reference was just out of habit, but after reading SLIT's scrolling update, it turns out the elusive Don actually made an appearance. Updates on him? Still driving the Bimmer with no ass?

Don's working at Pelican Parts again and is now driving a really nice looking Mercedes 4-door. He's Porsche-less now, but I think he'll be around more since he's at Pelican (hopefully for the long term). I'll give him credit too for being a pretty good "absent father". He's divorced from his wife, but makes a good effort to see his kids and has them every other weekend, hense the 4-door sedan. Good luck @ Pelican Don.
