Just wondering how many CCAs a battery would need for our cars. I realize that the bigger the displacement the more CCAs we would need. I am running a 2.5 4cly that my Dad and I built up. Would 600 do it or would I need more like 800l?

some factors to consider would be the state of engine tune and compression. If the car starts right up you could go lower on the CCA range. Also a hi-torque starter would demand a tad fewer amps.

600 is an overkill already.

I've been using the tiny Odyssey 680 for several years, it has only 220 CCA.
While I don't drive in the winter, my car is a -6 and uses 20W-50 oil which is
thick in the mornings when temp's in the 30's.

Unless you're buying lawn tractor batteries you'll have plenty of amps.

Thank you all. I was planning an using a SVR 28-12 battery. It has 600 CCA, 6.88" long, 6.5" wide and 4.88" tall and cost about $140. I used two of these in my old 944 to power the car and the audio system that I had. I was hoping that it would work in the 914. Thanks all.
