I am not sure if anyone knows, but one of our own is at the Runoffs this week.
Chris Foley of CFR welding is racing at Midohio this week, he is qualified 21st and will be racing this afternoon, you can watch the race times on this link: http://leaderboard.vfx.com/SCCA/RunOffs/Li...ming.asp?Class= Or SCCA.org and follow prompts to Runoffs and Live timing. The race should start at 4:15 approximately, on 9/24/04. Be nice to give a shout out to wish him luck. Good, luck Chris ! Erik Madsen |

Last year I had a site that listed the entry (driver and car), qualifying order and race finish order for each class. I can't find that this year. Does anyone know this site?
BTW, Go Chris! BTW, GT-2 was won by David Finch in a 944. |

From SCCA.com, it looks like Chris finished 15th out of 33 entries. The times seem to indicate that he cruised to the line in a group of four racing for 13th.
I'll bet he had a ball; should be fun when we get his response. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer.gif) Here's to ya, Chris! |

Thanks for the support guys, I was running comfortably (sort of) in 12th when the pace car came out. That allowed the entire field to bunch up. I ran well for a couple of laps after the restart until I caught 2 lapped cars in the carousel. One passed the other right in front of me and held me up just enough to allow the next 3 cars a perfect opportunity to pass me. Nothing I could do except give chase to the finish line. It was an intense race from my perspective and a whole load of fun despite the 3 lost positions at the end. ps. I expect good tv coverage based on the amount of traffic around me, including a Miata that spun off course when I was about a foot off his rear bumper. |

Sounds like a blast Chris. Don't be shy and not let us know when the TV coverage hits the air.

QUOTE(groot @ Sep 28 2004, 08:00 AM) Excellent showing, Chris!!! I stopped by your camp on Saturday to say hi, but I missed you. Maybe next time. Sorry I missed you Kevin. My brother was up from Tennessee and we spent all day watching the races, at the end of the back straight. Actually I am a little disappointed with my performance late in the race, especially after watching my in-car video. I was consistently about 5 mph slow entering turn one, driving conservatively after having an off there during Wednesday qualifying. That's where I lost time to many of the competitors around me and, if not for my being intimidated there, I could easily have finished 11th or 12th. |

You should not feel disappointed at all. A very impressive run, no doubt.
Some don't realize that it's a challenge just to be elligible for the runoffs, much less compete. Turn 1 is intimidating. I've run M-O quite a bit and still had trouble running it flat out in the ITB car, and that is much slower than your car. An off at turn 1 can be tragic. |

QUOTE(groot @ Sep 28 2004, 11:06 AM) An off at turn 1 can be tragic. I'll see about rendering & uploading a short video clip that includes my agricultural excursion. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif) I wouldn't want to lose it early in the turn, that's for sure. In retrospect I probably should have softened the front bar a little more. |
