Last night I was online and bidding on some side marker lenses. I waited for the last 60 seconds to jam in a couple of bids (I had multiple windows open so I could bid fast) and then it all just slowed down and wouldn't reload the page so I could count down the seconds. I went to my other windows and hammered in my bids one at a time (counting down in my head from 15 seconds then 5 seconds) [I really wanted those lenses] but nothing happened until after the auction was over. My new bids were there but someone else (with no other bids) had out bid me as if he locked me out and highjacked the auction.
I have never run across this before on Ebay, is it possible? |

I have never heard of that before. But, I have had ebay go down on me within the last 15 seconds and had it reload with my bid entered, me highest bidder with 2 seconds left. Those 3 or 4 seconds it takes the page to load seem like a lifetime sometimes.

I use eSnipe..you pay them based on the auctions final value using "BidPoints" that are purchased using Paypal or a credit card. Works great, no stress bidding at the last minute, you don't even need to be near the computer. I had six wins while out to dinner tonight. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/clap56.gif)

I just signed up for Actionsniper. The reason I chose them was because they had a secure encrypted server for the sign-up. the "esniper" wasn't secure.
We'll see what happens. |

I just put in my high bid (the absolute highest I'm willing to pay and still be happy) and put that in with about 3 minutes to go. For example, I just bought some welding equipment that was at $90 when I put in my $160 bid. People try too hard to bid a little, and then bid a little, and then bid a little more. I count on people like that. While you're trying to get your $105 bid in, then $120, then $130 the auction is over and I won. BTW, the welding equipment ended at $105.

I can do that in the evening but during the day I cannot bid from work. I cannot even come to this site from work. As for the 3 minutes, i've seen too many items go up 5 to 10 times in the last 10 - 30 seconds. I'll try the Auction sniper for at least 4 free snipes!!! I use Auction Sentry... cost is about $14.95
www.auctionsentry.com I've used it for about 1 1/2 years now with no problems. Easy to set up and use, as long as you have a dedicated net connection (cable or DSL). Support is great. I even crashed my PC and lost my registration number. They sent me a new one. Later, Qarl |

Hey Doug,
If you're sooking for the round marker lights for the front fender I've got some in good shape that I don't need. Just pm me with your address and I'll send them to ya, I work for FedEx Ground so shipping cost isn't an issue. Would just be happy to know they'll go to good use (and gives me a little more storage space). BJ |

Doug, there is no way for the other bidder to lock you out or hijack the auction. You were simply out-sniped and eBay was having a glitch at the same time. This is not uncommon if the auction ends exactly on the hour.
I snipe everything I want to bid on. If I can not be at the computer to do it myself, I use http://www.snip.pl/en/reg/. They have never let me down, and best of all it is a FREE service. The smart way to bid and win is: (IMG:http://auctionlotwatch.co.uk/images/lostagain.gif)Bid once. Bid your max. Bid as late as possible. (IMG:http://www.ukauctionhelp.co.uk/images/crosshairs.gif) |

BJ This is why this site rocks (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif) Its people like this that make my day. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif) I can, and will, afford to pay for a lens but just the offer from someone to give one away brings a smile to my face. Just two weeks ago I had someone from here offer me a free side shift tranny, but I had to pick it up myself and it was 3000 miles away, but just the offer was fantastic. In all the years that I have been surfing the net, I have only found these traits at this site. All of you, go to the fridge and have a beer on me.
