I wanted to upgrade my rear brakes to the 4 piston type. (i.e. 944 Turbo type) However, it is my understanding that if you do this you loose the E-Brake. So if I stay with a stock caliper on the rear is there any way to do cross drilled vented rotors? Does the 914-6 stock setup allow for rear vented rotors?

Why do you think you need bigger brakes on the rear?

What do you have on the front?

Who need an E-brake?
(a hunk of 2 X 4 works great)

Don't know if the 6 rears are that much better than the 4.
Just more $$$'s.

You can use 911 E-brakes like I do. The cables are the problem. Otherwise it is pretty simple conversation. You need to modify the trailing arms a little to be able to bolt the back plate to the trailing arm.

I've had 2 different rear brake set ups with vented rotors...

for what your talking about... Split the calipers. Have spacer blocks machined. Rebuild the calipers with new o-rings. buy some 911 rear rotors..

viola.. vented rear brakes with parking brake..

(Oh I forgot to mention that these are totally unnecessary)

Welcome "WorstMan"

You live where I spent 20+ years of my life (Arlington)

I'll start by asking you what you have on the front of the car currently.

Hey - I'm smarter than I thought. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)
My question was the same as Brad's.
(not that I have the right answer when responds)

911's use drums for parking brakes Jon. They fit inside the 911 rear rotor.

He adapted them for use on a 914..

Ah, I did not know that, and I wasn't able to tell from the 1 time I've driven a 911.

What do Nein Farty Fars use, same thing?

Same thing.

Porsche (Thank God!) got rid of the hand brake in the caliper BS.

I moved my front (914-4) calipers to the rear when I upgraded the fronts. Works well.

Not having the e-brake is only sketchy when you're parked on an incline. I carry little folding wheel-chocks in the car for use in that situation, just as an extra precaution.

I don't miss the damn 914-4 rear calipers and venting clearance crap one bit.
