I'm quite sick because I have shingles.

It hurts like fuch, (I can barely wear a shirt) my left arm is numb, and I’m blistered all over my left shoulder, neck, ear, jaw line and chest. I'm on oxycocet for pain and some kind of anti-viral med. To top it off painkillers make me (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon8.gif)

Good thing the wife wasn’t with me, because the Doc said, “you got herpes”, if she was there I would have punched her in the head. Then he saw my face and said “NO-No not the STD (VD) kind…you have shingles.” It’s caused by left over virus, from having the chicken pox as a kid.

I have to apologize to one of the members, as I’m most likely going to be quite late on his engine build. It takes 4 to 5 weeks to get over this and I don’t really want to build an engine racked with pain and stoned out of my head.

I was thinking of posting a pic, but it’s quite gross, so maybe not.

That really sucks. Post pictures. We'll share in your pain, if only visually. I can't believe even with meds it takes that long to get over something like this. Get well soon!!!

I had them last year, they suck!!!! The worst part is the ghost pains you get 4 mos later, sorry not the best news, but you will survive. Keep your chin up and the oxytocin flowing. Happiness thru good drugs. The good news is yours is on your torso, mine was on my face and kneck, the Dr. said I was lucky I did not scar. I feel for you man!

Mark, Hang in there. I know this is no fun. My girlfriend had a relatively small case on her shoulder and back last year. I'm not sure what drug was prescribed, but that and an ointment got her through. Best wishes.

For you sick puppies I'll see if the wife will take a pic later when she wakes up, she's working nights.

This sucks...I'm too busy to be sick. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)

As for the pain it's pretty intense. There is no cure other than time, the anti-viral just helps stop it from spreading. The Doc said creams don't help.

Hey, follow the Dr.'s orders and report any, I mean ANY, change for the worse. I have a uncle who has been down with shingles since the spring. Big problem was not getting treatment soon enough and trying to be his own Doc. Stick the course and heal soon!

Your health is much more important than my engine.
