I propose we do some sort of fundraiser for our fearless web guys. I don't know the ins and outs of such a deal, but we could donate to Andy for buying some new state of the art black box or just a pallet of beer. Lets here some ideas for and against.

UPDATE:

QUOTE
Alright guys I have setup a Paypal account (against my better judgement). You can send your donations to the Paypal Account:

*Removed address as fundraiser is over*

If you are like me and don't use Paypal that is fine as well, you can PM me for an address a send me a check made out to Andy and I will forward it.

I will be keeping an excel spreadsheet of who donated and how much. That list is not for public use, but if there is some dispute as to when and how much someone sent I will have that data.

WHEN you send your donation (or use Paypal) make sure you include your 914 world User name and your real name. I want to make sure I can keep track of every penny.

I'd step up for that! But please, no Paypal only transactions.

For. Any forum I've ever been a part of has needed some kind of financial support, be it paid memberships for advanced features, or just donations to help out... I was suprised when I couldn't find a "donate" option when I joined here!

I just talked with Mike Wills and we both think that is very appo. I had pleaged $100 to Mike to start the fund. So what would you like to do Bert. I asked Mike to manage a fund because he started all of this. So lets not start 2, where would you like to go with this. Mike has paypal and Andy's address as he was going to send a card and money for a nite out for him and Amoy.
I know Andy will never ask, so lets do something for him.
He is my Hero.

Its true, we do take a lot away from here with the vast collective knowledge of our members and we're lucky enough to have Andy contain that to one small corner of the world.

Maybe something as simple as a $20/yr donation will get you a gold star by your name.

And if you're an asshole, you get a (IMG:style_emoticons/default/stromberg.gif) and a (IMG:style_emoticons/default/hissyfit.gif) by your name.

With that said, I am for. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

I don't do Paypal, but can send a check or something somewhere. We will have Andy post his home address here so the world knows where to send money. Lol. Just kidding. I am sure we can figure it out.

Andy, you like dark beers?

914club was just that.... And the reason the 914world split from the 914 club. With 200 active members here, at $20+ a year, your talking a good 4k+ a year... Not including the ads up top. Which based on my understandings, the ads by the vendors are what funds the site. I have a hard time believing that thats going to fly..

IMHO the only way you'll get admins to accept "contributions" is if you buy them a beer or slip a $50 in their pocket without them noticing..

Dont get me wrong, I fully support this site, Andy, and the community. I just think there is a better way of going about supporting the site from a members standpoint than direct monetary contributions.

I think Joe's idea is the best, a gift card for Amoy and Andy sound like a great idea! Joe, which Mike are we talking about?

I'm all for what ever you guys decide to do. I've always thought it would be good to give something to them. Why is it wrong to contribute $ when not required? I only hate it when it is required.

Hence why I said "donation". (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

Doesn't have to be required whatsoever, but a gold star or something of the like does show that you care enough about the site to contribute. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

I have the utmost respect for the culpret but he was the one that asked the question. MOVEQUICK. Mike Wills. Number 2 on NARP and I thought it would be apprapo that he to give not only of his money but some time too. Not to punnish him but to help him with his guilt trip. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
Come on you guys anyone of us could have asked that question.
So this is my proposal.
From PM's on NARP I know Mike has Andy's address, he also has Paypal.
I will have to send him a check so we will have to work out some details.
I can moderate the thread to make sure all the donations go to the account and post them on the thread.
Mike says he would be flexable so I think we can do something good here for someone that give us so much and asks for nothing in return.

I donated to the club, and I would donate here too. I don't need a star by my name. I do find it interesting that this only comes up when there has been a disaster and never when things are going good. Andy does what he does because of the love he has for our cars and for this place. I do think a donation button is great, but no recognition please.

i'm in with whatever way we decide to contribute to this site.

spent a little time on klr.net in the world's absense and there's an option to be a paying member there. i'd gladly do so here as well.
