I'm planning to change the trailing arm bushings on my '72 and I'm needing some feedback please. Where's the best place to get replacements? Rubber or poly such and suches? What's a good price etc etc etc? Not planning to do anything other then continue drive it to and fro. Any help is mucho gracias (IMG:style_emoticons/default/popcorn[1].gif)

I used the inexpensive delron ones from Pelican. I have no complaints or concerns. But I may not know any better. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

Elephant Racing poly-bronze. I have them on my 911 and my 914 GT clone love them. A little pricey but will last my lifetime plus some.

The delrin bushings can be very annoyingly squeaky.

Elephant Poly Bronze. Pricey but well worth not having to do it again for a long long time. Simple install.
I went the Weltmeister route first. Total waste. |

Bushings ordered May 17 and have yet to receive them. I was offered a refund the following week or so as the parts were not in. Should have gotten the refund. Anyhow, thanks for the input folks.

The delrin bushings can be very annoyingly squeaky. The cheap plastic bushings can be annoyingly squeaky. (Real) Delrin bushings don't squeak unless they are installed poorly. I'm going with these Delrin and a local 914 cat recommended adding some grease fittings to the trailing arms after scoring the inside of the bushing with a dremel... gonna "do it do it". Anyone else ever try this? |

These are the harder bushings. These do not flex or squeak if installed properly.
I always recommend zerks and install them on all of the one's we install here. I don't think you need to score journals in them but, it probably wouldn't hurt. Sorry for the delay Neil... we only had two left in inventory when you ordered. These are in stock and shipping now. This may help as well. http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=79299 Also, I recommend a sanding drum from McMaster to hone the center. Much more precise fit than what was written up years back. Item #4650A68. Well worth the $5.84 |
