I'm replying to this old thread on Chris' shift linkage kit as I'd like to install one and have the same question as the above poster regarding being able to use the plastic boot cover (but did not see a reply).

Maybe the installation instructions provide a suggested modification to the cover, but from what I can tell, it looks like one might be able to modify the cover by extending the existing hole in the cover to be U-shaped (open at the top), and then adding a new hole on the other side where the extended shift-rod exits the added ear on the console. This way, the cover can be slid on and clamped into place after getting all the linkage hooked up. Does this sound like it would work? I'm ready to place my order, but want to confirm the cover can be modified to fit.
