Got the 'BB' up to 100 on flat ground on the way back from the 2012 Rt-66; carb'd 2056 on 195/65x15 Michelins. Final jetting still isn't dialed in, so who knows (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)
Pegged the 120mph speedo with the wife's '71 (going downhill) on the 2007 Rt-66 Run; 1.7L FI on 165HR15s ... with 2 people in the car (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cheer.gif) |

If you mean Alpha, that was my first thought too! OMG, I miss the Alpha era. Troy, I'm surprised you kept quiet about our old buddy. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) With his titanium connecting rods he could do 130 on stock tires! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) I went 120 by the speedo a few times in my 2.0, but that was on 205x50/15s. I haven't done the math to adjust for tire diameter, but don't really care. I'm done asking for those kinds of speeding tickets. I am more interested in quick than fast. |

Funny thing about those apps.... I've downloaded a few and never really put them through the real tests.
PocketDyno is on my list. |

Mine is pretty much stock and I don't have GPS, just the stock speedometer and I have been over 110, which it did easily, feels like it will do 120 or more. I did this on a cool day early on a Sunday morning, no cars around except my brother in his big engined Mercedes following me. The HWY was smooth, with no entrances or exits and we are both experienced Autobahn users with many kilometers under our belts, safety first!

I found that thread before, and the screws are adjusted pretty well. i guess I could tweak them a little more, but I don't want to risk burning out the motor(s). I'm just happy that they go up and down, and light up too! |

i'm suspecting the cars w/o tins (water cooled conversions) are more stable at speed. there's a low pressure area behind the rear window. an open pathway between this and the bottom of the car (through the engine grille) allows air to be pulled from beneath the car? i've had my stock 1.7 up to an indicated 100 (probably optimistic speedo). what say the conversion guys about this theory? was your car more stable at speed w/o the tins? Max I've had the 2.0 was 105 indicated.. What I noticed was that when I removed the lower portion of the rear bumper/ cut 3" from the 916 bumper, I gained quite a bit of high speed stability. That rear end just traps the air and pushes the rear end up... |
