Nice car. But if that goes for 25k, does that mean an original 914-6 is worth 100k? |

Try and restore 914 back to "original" for under 20K. If it is truly documented from day one with all service history, no rust, and only needs the center console repaired It is well with in the $20K range in my book. I would rather see our cars go up in value and excellent examples should demand and get top prices. It was just a few years ago that you could get a very original /6 for $12k - $15K range, now well north of $20K or more. I wish the seller the best of luck and I hope they get their asking price. |

Current bid is $25k and has not hit the reserve. With a BIN price of $28k I would remove the reserve immediately and run with the $25k.
Nice car and thanks for the high price. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

Looks like a nice car...any ad that references "Grandfather" 8 times reminds me of an old Andy Griffith show ("Barney's first car" episode). GLWS and I concur with the notion that you snag 25k for a 4 cyl if you can get it...it was a "safe" bid given that reserve wouldn't be met.
PS - Did I miss something or are there no engine, trans, or undercarriage pictures listed??? ...just putting it out there. |

It seems like a high price to me. It would be a good idea to keep it. Sixty years from now, one of the relatives could say, "yeah this has been in our family for 100 years!".

I don't think this one is overpriced, but setting the top of the range. Remember when you look at the NADA & Excellence prices, that some will be above in better condition/lower miles/etc. & some below for lesser cars, in order to to average their pricing.
OO 73 & 74 914-2.0s with documented low original mileage in great condition with all the records like this one have sold in the mid to high-20s with a patient seller & the right buyer looking for that color etc. If not now, then certainly within a couple of years upon full economic recovery, since they were regularly in this price range in pre-crash 2004-07. Those of you who think this is just a nice driver with 180k or 280k miles & worth $10k less are off base here. Although I've not seen it in person, the pix show the indicators that it truly is only an 80k 914 (e.g.: pedal & carpet wear, correct items, etc.). If you're a CW fanatic, then you go over it thoroughly & not replace much of anything (repair over replace), in order to keep it an all original 914 for survivor or preservation class concours use. However, there is not any room for someone like Tod to buy, resto & resell at a profit. There are some underside pix in that side scrolling Vuvox photo thingy below the data block, but I'm sure the seller would be willing to get more on request. I'm personally hoping it does sell well to help eventually justify the so much more that I'm spending to reso my old gal! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |

I grew up idolize'ing this car! It broke my heart when my mother told me that it was in his will that no one in our family possesses this car due to jealousy issues... Money is easier to divide within a family than a car unfortunately. |

I am probably one of several who spoke with the seller when the car first went on Craigslist. My opinion, its worth the $25k, maybe more to an overseas buyer.
Advice to seller. remove your reserve and take the $25k bid. |

Boy I hope that car sells for $25K and upward.
I would sure want to see the underside of the car, engine compartment, rockers, trunks, etc. to spend that amount. I wish the seller the best on this sale. |
