http://youngstown.craigslist.org/cto/3392885228.html and in response to: http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=199484 Assuming that the car is rust free or only with limited rust ? Is there a certain spot I have to be aware of rust aside from battery, hell hole..., some are talking about a "stress" test performed on a lift someone please explain ? Thomas |

Looks like it was repainted bright red over maroon color. Mirrors have been replaced. Looks like decent shape overall. Unmolested interior. I would not pay more than 5k for it.

Although it looks pretty good, being that it is a PA car, I would ask for pictures or inspect the long, floor pans and hell hole for rust issues. Not sure if this is what others are referring to, but many times when a car is put on a lift, it will flex if there are rust issues.

Pull rocker covers and check rocker longs for rust. Check floorboards for rust. Check trunk for rust. Maybe someone on this forum lives near the car help inspect it for you.

the number one stress test is to put the oem jack into the jack sockets on each side of the car and try to jack it up
if it does not bend around the jack, or the door gaps do not change, when you do that - it's likely safe to buy |

The higer the price, the higher the expectation. Go over that puppy with a fine tooth comb. |

I hate they did not mask the car properly before painting. Lots of overspray.

FI still in place. Clean looking car. Dead brother's pride and joy. If it is rust free, it may be worth the asking price.

What is a fair/good price to pay for this 1974 1.8 Like any 914, you can't tell the price from pics. A detailed inspection of the car is necessary to determine the price. $5k might be a steal if the car has little rust or damage. If interested, go see the car with someone who knows 914s and take lots of pictures and post them. |

A mold of the front splitter has got to be worth something, i've seen posts here where people are looking for something like that.
