The "real" FI clamps have rolled edges, not flat like the ones pictured. While better than the worm screw type, they're still not right. The Cap'n All manufactures do same .... it's a tightrope walk between cost an reliability Private mechanics have eyes for everything, but at last for the costs. This is for the Capt'n (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Hex socket, stainless Attached image(s) |

Ah, hose clamps and FLAPS
Last time I bought a box was for the numerous venting hoses coming off the Vanagon gas tank. Pretty disapointed when a year later I found out that EVERY hose clamp had fractured, and all were hanging loose. I just love doing things twice. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) One of the two goals of a product is it has to work, and it has to be low in cost (and still work). China and FLAPS. Maximize profits, minimize usefullness. |

I sure wouldn't use the ones in the pictures with FI. If they don't have the rolled edges they can bite into your fuel lines. I didn't have a problem finding clams with rolled edges at FLAPS last time I looked. Have they become scarce? |

I had the same issue.
After spending over $10 a foot for the best fuel line you can get, I decided I shouldnt use 10-cent hose clamps. I searched and found these at Jegs: (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/www.jegs.com-10819-1357578034.1.jpg) http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS+Performance+Pro.../16050/10002/-1 They dont bite into the hose like the type with the open slots. You can also find the other kind that have the rolled edges so they are not so sharp, but as mentioned above, they have a much smaler range of hoses that they can work with: (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/www.natauto.com-10819-1357578034.2.jpg) http://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-tech/589738-new-leak.html Stu |
