Klaus Kindor of Placentia, from what I can tell, owns it, or is selling it for someone.

Here it is in a thread, some pics Jim took. I don't know why all the coolest custom 914's don't have head rests on the seats - that seems painful. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

Ah, that makes sense, I was thinking of the black one which has a similar seating arrangement.

I'm no purist by any measure but it's a shame an original 6 was done that way. All that money and they retained the 901 box - nothing more than an over priced hot rod at this point. It is "pretty" but not a functional (performance wise) true track car despite being described as "race set-up, roll cage (I don't see one)"...

Its a $30-$32k car IF you can find the "right" buyer in todays market.

It is a nice car but why ruin a real -6. Maybe not ruined but, now so far from original. Oh well... I would drive the shit out of it but I would never pay the $62k asking price.

Isn't this xitspd 's old car? If so, it was built up this way at least 7-8 years ago.

I always liked this car, even more when he had the yellow on the bumpers. I would love to see what it drives like.

Yup. That is Dan Callicot's car. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wub.gif) It is very impressive in person. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/drooley.gif)

Yup, Dan's old car, I have never seen it in person, but if it's half as nice as my Carrera, that used to share garage space with it, it's worth every bit of asking price. Dan was the man.

Possibly but that's not a pleasant process and certainly not how it's being presented. If someone (verifiable) pays over $40k I'd consider it a miracle. Incredibly well prepared, low mile original /6's don't often bring anything outside of the 30's - there is no way a heavily modified car with a Autometer style tach has more "value".

As I said before, it is pretty and I WOULD much rather have this car 7-days a week than an original stock car. Heck, I wouldn't even want a stock one. This however, is not point I was making...jmo.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I saw the car years ago and was impressed with what Dan C ( RIP) had accomplished with his -6. To my knowledge he never really tracked the car like some of us ‘intended’
Just like my spec GT2, I ordered it and it mainly sits.., some say its a waste- but you know what, I did it my way.
Again my .02 cents

There are always exceptions and nobody should ever paint with a broad brush on these types of cars. I see allot of -6 cars that are #'s matching and beautiful but can't move them at asking price between $39-$45k - simply stated the facts as I've seen them in the last six months.

With that said, this car looks very well done and built with exceptional parts/pieces. I also don't deny "build" cost...God only knows I've done similiar things. The point I was attempting to state is this car/build seems to fall into a "no-mans-land" for potential buyers - value suffers (typically) when cars are built short of a singular purpose.

If you disagree with this too, God bless you (in fact, God bless you anyway). (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

The pics with the yellow bumper has a cage inside and the current pics don't. Was it removed? Does anybody remember if it was a bolt in? Just curious.
I would like to see this car with some Fuchs instead of the Kinesis wheels.

Perfectly said..
its not really a race car (at least not a good one)
its half way there and halfway away from stock/street
commitment to vision would have made it better from my viewpoint

Yup... Still wrong.

Anyone trying to sell a 914-6 at that price in the US is barking up the wrong tree except for the absolute right buyer. But, that car would sell in a heartbeat for a very nice asking price in Europe where they have a monetary advantage and let's face it, they want their cars back... My '84 911 with 70K miles sold at the asking price in less than 24 hours. The buyers agent was so sure his buyer would take it, he was 100 miles from home and 100 miles from me before he even called to tell me he was coming to see it. Oh, and then he let it slip that he had a trailer on the back of his truck. He made a very feeble attempt to negotiate but then called his buyer (middle of the night in Germany) and all I understood of their conversation was "ja das iss fine auto." When I asked him why he didn't try to negotiate more, he just said that with the exchange rate (which is slightly less advantageous now) he was stealing my car. My asking price? $400 less than the car's sticker price when new.
