I want to install a later style 911 sway bar on my '71 914. I am not going to 5 lug and I do not want to get into changing the struts on my '71 or swapping an entire 911 front suspension onto the car. I just want to use the later 911 under the body sway bar with the early 914 struts & non vented brakes.

I know I need the tabs for the A-arms. Can I use the 911 A-arms and keep my early struts? Will the early 914 balljoints work in the 911 A-arms? Do I need the aluminum cross member from the 911?

TIA

Just run both, then everyone will think you know something they don't (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

The VW GTIs I used to race had two rear bars to get rid of the terminal understeer associated with FWD.

No need for extra sway bars..... Just brake with your left foot and do this! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

HAHA (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol-2.gif)

On a serious note, could that actually be done, as far as fitment goes of both the tabs on the a-arms fitting in their proper respective places??

i did this about 15 yrs ago

- same reason - oem bar was cracking the body & i did not think it was a good thing going scca racing that way

bought a complete 911 cross member & lower arms - my sixer already had 911 Bilsteins on it so it was an easy swap

you could fabricate these on your oem arms by getting the parts online from Speedway Motors in Nebraska

here's a picture of the 911 bar, 911 lower arms with tabs - you also can just make out the attaching bracket location at upper left

.
Attached Image

i'll look for another picture better showing the attaching points to body & post later

thanks Larry. I contacted bruce earlier today about a few things, one being if he had these brackets, and he does, so I am set on that end, going to pick them up next weekend, along with some other things. So nice having bruce local!
Another question i have though, how is the bar retained on the ends. On my bar there are two clearance holes (dont think they were threaded). I realize because of the geometry it would be difficult for the bar to just "slip" out but those holes have to be for some thing right? I can take a picture if need be.

Thanks

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) I'd love to see details on the original sway bar cracks that developed. Can you snap some pics?
