Wow... guess it must really be a sub 3K miles then! Have to admit that is the lowest mileage I've ever heard of.

Congratulations to the seller.
I would assume this car is going to a collector (like Leno) or a museum. A 914 1.8 is in no way (even new) a car I would give up that kind of money for. I hate to tell you this; but, I wouldn't even pay that for a real 914/6. There is a huge list of cars I would rather have for $42K. In no particular order they are: Porsche 993 Porsche 996 Turbo Porsche 997 Porsche Cayman S Aston Martin DB7 Vantage Ferrari 328/348 Lotus Turbo Esprit (V8) Acura NSX etc..... You can argue collectibility; and , in the long run you may be right. However, the 914 in no way would excite me like owning one of the cars above. |

and with rubber bumpers, no less. They just make for a car w/ cleaner lines (of course I have no bias).

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif) Ya know....this is one of the very rare times that I think the car is worthy of the trailer. If was restored, modified....whatever, then drive the thing. But a car that is pushing 40 years old with that kind of original mileage has gone beyond the point of "Fuch it! Drive the thing!" When else can you step back in time like you do when looking at this particular car? A 75 1.8 is normally no big deal but ANY car from 1975 that is so perfectly untouched deserves some respect IMHO. |

Some years ago the late actor Vic Morrow 's. '75 1.8 with
5,000 miles on it went for $2,500.00. A little celebrity status to boot. The used car lot couldn't move this car for almost six months. $42 tall ?, I'd say I'll. rethink my '79 930 with 11,000 original miles if it goes on the block! Congrats to the seller... Marty |
