(IMG:style_emoticons/default/welder.gif) TIA, kent BTW / FYI, you can link directly to that post (number) - just substitute '91' in the URL you posted (which was for that page, 80 being top post on page). I.E: http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?sho...01776&st=91 Alternatively, the post# is itself a link which can be copied/pasted: http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?sho...p;#entry1886171 Hope this helps! The trunk pivot point is a bolt welded on the back of a bracket and the bracket welded onto the inner fender.
Remove the hinge and the pivot point will be obvious. This is a common break. |

i had to do this several months ago. here's my dinky thread;
http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?sho...=198204&hl= i ended up getting a used piece from someone here and having a muffler shop weld it in for me. it's holding up nicely several months later. doh! i see i forgot to post pics of that... i used the "much cursing" method of re-setting the torsion springs... it kinda appears you might be able to get away with adding some type of sleeve to locate the pivot bolt but, only if you're a cheap lazy bastid like me! |

I'll find one to replace it with. i had to do this several months ago. here's my dinky thread; http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?sho...=198204&hl= i ended up getting a used piece from someone here and having a muffler shop weld it in for me. it's holding up nicely several months later. doh! i see i forgot to post pics of that... i used the "much cursing" method of re-setting the torsion springs... it kinda appears you might be able to get away with adding some type of sleeve to locate the pivot bolt but, only if you're a cheap lazy bastid like me! Well your "dinky thread" turned on a light in an otherwise dark room. Thx for the tips everyone. |
