Ok, Ok, I'll bite.........

Name is Ron Meier. Pushed 60 this year (age, not speed)

My passion with these cars started in 1970 when I was a go-fer and later a wrench on a 914/6 racing team and later graduated to Formula Cars and CAN-AM (McLaren MK-8E). Personally raced Bugeye Sprites, MGBs, Triumph TR4s. Been in and out of racing and finally completely out about 15 years ago.

Live in the land of temporary ice and snow ---- Mountains of Southern California. Have traveled/lived throughout the US.

Been in Technical Sales most of my life (water and wastewater treatment), but sold most everything except for bras and dill pickles. Currently working in the automotive field (core broker).

Am a pilot, but don't fly anymore except lo-level on the freeway.

Now living the single life-style again due to being the world's biggest asshole. Have 3 offspring that I know of...two twin girls 18 and a son 23. Girls are closest 914 lovers (but I won't give them one of mine) and the boy went to the dark side (2002 Corvette), but has been eyeing one of the 14s. He will desecrate it with an LS1 though if I gave him the chance.

Love this board and helping the members with my miniscule knowledge and parts. I mainly function as a thread hijacker and general all around instigator of hostility for fun.

I have been married to Susan for 27 years. Work for JPM Chase as a Residential Loan Specialist (mortgages). We have two dogs, a daughter, and three grandkids.

The first 914 I saw I thought was ugly. I hated them even more when I backed into one and had to pay to have it repaired in college. But later that year, I was offered the chance to drive a 914 that belonged to a friend's sister. I was hooked. I took it on a twisty road around Lake Mathews near Riverside, CA at speed. The car drove like it was on rails. What a thrill.

Susan has always been fine with our having a sports car as long as it is air conditioned. The 280ZX Turbo had plenty of power, but was nose heavy.

This past year I saw a 914 in a parking lot for sale. It needed a front right quarter panel. I talked it over with Susan and we bought it. I started checking into the cost of getting it repaired and realized I had a much bigger project on my hands than I expected. About that time, I found this board and realized I could buy a driver for less that I was getting quoted for repairs.

Susan and I talked it over and we dicided to buy a running car. I found my '73 on this site in June. I picked it up in Santa Barbara, CA and drove it to Phoenix in the June heat, 106* that day. The car did fine. I started working on it as it was good mechanically, but needed cosmetics.

While searching the web for parts and information, I came across Tim Jones announcement that his Bumble Bee was for sale. I would not have given it a second though, except he was located only 20 miles away. I sent him an email, no response. A week later I emailed again to see if the car was still available. It was and we arranged a time to meet. I knew about the car from his web site, and after a going over, paid him cash on the spot.

So, my search for a "fun" car to drive had led to three cars. The first one is in the process of being parted out. The 73 will be my modification car and will get more power, and other upgrades and modern items like MegaSquirt. The LE will stay as close to original as possible.

I'm Ernie DeVries, 53 (how did that happen?) and married to my best friend Linda since 1972. We've go 3 kids: Mike, Mandy & Nick. Mike shares my addiction to 914s and hangs out here. Mandy is married with a wonderful little boy, Nate, who turned 1 about a week ago. Nick got married to Tasha this October and just graduated from college a week ago - He drives a 75 bus and loves it, but isn't mechanical. Linda got addicted to quilting after making a quilt for our VW camper so she may not understand about air cooled cars, but she does understand the passion - we've got a 12' Gammill quilting machine in our house to prove it. No one is looking for a cure for the quilting addiction either.

Well my 914 addiction started with the 1962 bug that I learned to drive on. Then there was the 73 fastback that blew up in Blythe, CA while my brother and I were on our way to Long Beach to pick up the Austin Healey Sprite that the Navy shipped from Guam to U.S. for me. And my folks had a 72 VW camper van. It wasn't until 1977 when we knew that Nick was coming along that I discovered 914s. The Chevette wasn't big enough for 3 kids so we bought a 69 VW popup camper from a neighbor. A friend at work told me about the foreign auto repair class that met at the local high school on Saturdays and I was off doing my first engine overhaul, learning about brakes, valve adjustments, etc along the way.

A doctor in that class had a 914. I liked the look of it and knowing it was a joint project of VW & Porsche I figured the Porsche snobs wouldn't like it and that it would be designated NORP. I figured it was the "poor man's Porsche" that I could actually afford to have. The ride the doc gave me to the parts store was pretty wild since he had a turbo on it and he was a maniac driver - I was hooked.

It wasn't until 1990 that I actually got a 914. I saw one sitting on a local car lot. I was driving a full size Chevy pickup that was a mistake from the day I got it. I traded the truck and $300 for the 72 914 having no idea what I was getting myself into. The ride home in the rain was great as we tried to figure out how to get some defrost going, but didn't know about the heater lever on the floor!

These days there are 5 914s at my house:
1970 parts car that I've finally started cutting up
1971 that I've borrowed from Mike to use as a daily driver
1972 that I took apart to restore, but discovered it was too much for me to continue with so it's waiting for a late time
1973 Mike's 73 that got wrecked 2 years ago and is awaiting a roller to receive all the good parts
1973 picked this up off the club classifieds about 1 1/2 years ago. Last January it lost 3 quarts of oil when a freeze plug blew and I'm in the midst of building a new engine for it. This is my dream car.
Then there's the 1977 VW bus for parts and storing parts in
and Mom's 2000 VW Eurovan Camper.

I spend my days working as the "computer guy" for the Museum of Northern Arizona. I get to do everything from managing the Windows network to replacing power supplies to building databases and web pages. It's a cool gig and I love working there. It's too bad it meant getting laid off to find it, but I'm glad to be there.

This group has been great and I'm truly greatful that it exists. When I first got my 914 the best technical resource I had was the exploded-view diagrams in the newspring AA catalog. We've come along way since then and this resource is the best thing around for those of us with the 914 addiction.

Hi there everyone, I'm T.C. Davis (46 & single) I have a 17 year old son named Jordan who lives outside Atlanta. Carr914 as Carr is middle name and I've been addicted to cars forever.
Born in Watkins Glen, NY and lived in Tampa, FL since 1981.
I'm a graduate of Susquehanna University and am a factory Sales representive in concrete coatings.
I have also worked for Skip Barber Racing since 1987 and have been a PCA driving instructor since 1988.
I've owned 34 cars since moving to Tampa including 7 914s (1 914-6, all others 2.0s)
My current cars are my 74 914-6 conversion (almost done), a 74 Euro Carrera ( just getting started) and my work ricer.

I raced a 59 bugeye as well, and owned a Convertible D, a Speedster wreck that ended up in my Ghia, a '72 TaildraggerS, a couple of 356s that are still crossing the periodic table, and at long last a 74 six conversion.

My bride and I adopted a sister and brother act (8 & 4 years old) from eastern Europe last year, and they are doing their best to keep me from feeling over twenty years old. Maybe thats why the teener came around...Much less dignified than another 911.

Although I suffer from Agouraphobia (no offense, Howard), I'm quite happy here in the former 909 wasteland, roaring through the orange groves and trying not to give AAron Cox car-ear advice.

Merry Christmas to all and I really should get back to my JWest Fuse Box install... I spend too much time messing around here instead of fixing the car or using it to scare my wife and kids.

Hi all!

Hard to belive I just turned 60; some days I feel like it but most days I don't. Married for 37 years to Ann so I guess it must be working. One son, Matt, age 23 and now working at Sega in SF.

Retired from the Navy, retired again as a corporate/securities paralegal, now self-employed as a commercial property owner/manager.

Got hooked on 911's in the mid '90's (previously had '89 targa, '97 Carrera, now the CS) but in the process I noticed how the 911's were getting their butts handed to them by 914's at autocrosses so I picked up a 914 last February and have enjoyed it immensely since (thanks to the help of the folks at HPH).

Bought my first 914 while looking to buy a Ghia. Price was right.
Didn't know anything bout them I just liked the car. Motor was locked up trans
screwed. 6 years and one parts car later I drove it. Lost first gear and thats where I stand now
Personal seperated soon to be divorced. Have 2 great kids. Son says "Daddy make your white car go fast."

On the club front I will try to start arranging some 914 breakfasts in central Va and see what happens. I enjoy coming here to see what everybody else is up to and am happy to see that
I'm not the only one having problems with my car.

My name is Chris Julian and up until ~15 months ago I was a normal 30 something year old. Then I tripped across this place. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve always had the need-for-speed, but I was always able to drop it when required. Now with this site, I can’t seem to get away from it. I can tell you the 914club has infiltrated my life in more ways than I could have ever imagined. It’s almost a family affair, for example, my mother-in-law actually gave me a framed 2004WCC poster for my birthday this year, It’s the first time my wife has really been impressed with car folk!! I have made some really good friends with this site, and am actually considering taking ½ of this years vacation days to get down to the 2005WCC.
I know my 914 wouldn’t have come as far as it has over the past year without this site and it’s members. So thanks to the initial organizers, administrators, and most importantly all the members of this forum.

Thanks to all involved and I hope meet many of you personally in 2005.

I am 44, married to Viola and we have a smart 8 y/o daughter. I bought my ’70 914 in ‘82, non-running inspired primarily by several V8 conversion articles. It sat while I enjoyed my first car, a ’72 Opel GT and my ’67 Datsun roadster. I sold the Opel, Datsun, and ’59 Studebaker Silverhawk, and bought a ‘74 Jensen Healey roadster to drive while at the Art Center in Pasadena. I installed the Chalon kit and the V8 during school breaks but cooling problems kept it sitting. During that time I bought a’72 Lotus Europa TC non-runner which I later traded for a ’65 Maserati Sebring basket case. After school the 914 V8 continued to sit when I got my first job in the Bay Area and bought a ’77 Lancia Scorpion. For a while I had three mid-engine cars. I sold the Lancia and bought a new ’89 Honda Civic SI. I wanted to drive the 914 before my wedding in ’98 and learned my first hard lesson of allowing a hot rod shop to work on my 914. Coddington’s guys has nothing on these idiots. I literally limped it home after paying a fat check swearing never to have someone work on it again. On the original Porschev bbs I emailed Brad Roberts (from Texas) for advise, 2 years later he is in the Bay Area and working on my car (I broke my shop rule), and 2 months later it is on the road. I sold the Maserati to fund this work. The Porschev board had entertaining tech arguments between Brad, Scott (Renegade), and hard core members before it shut down and dispersed everyone to other boards like this one. I organized local Porsche V8 conversions and have enjoyed meeting many diverse enthusiasts like Harry, Chris, Jason, and Sonu. The WCC04 was my first autocross and first ride in a flat 4 914. HI, my name is Daniel Lo, hitting the big two one next August. Currently a student at Pasadena City College (PCC) in my 3rd year transferring soon next summer to Cal State U. Los Angeles. Been here in SoCal my entire life, born in ghetto Chinatown and moved to quiet Alhambra, CA and been here since. Currently, employed at Autozone for the past half year and also a licensed lifeguard for the past 3 summers. Graduated from Alhambra High School..still dating my H.S. sweetheart (Shannon AKA "your 914 is TOO LOUD") after 3 years and growing stronger. Umm hmm other than that...my interest in the 914 began when my buddy fellow 914clubber (Jpalacios) gave me a ride in his 74' 2.0L and i was hooked. Purchased my 74' 1.8L back in August as birthday present for myself, and recently after 4 months of waiting i can finally drive her (914) in this gorgeous Cali weather with the top down blowing in my spiked hair (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/driving.gif) . my goals for my first 914 is to restore her in and out, maybe drop in another powerplant if this 1.8 finally decides to past-on. Thinking of maybe a 2.OL bored out to 2.2 or maybe a small flat six. dunnos still new to the whole 914world.com scene. Good to meet all you teeners that introduced yourself. You are the choice people to see the 914 stays alive and well.
It is all of you that make the 914 life what it is. Not anyone in particular can go it alone.

Guess who I missed in the intro. All that didn't respond. Again, it's not about any single person but I can imagine how everyone from day one could add something special to the real world 914 zeal. I am talking 914, not Pcar's in general.

One intro I would have liked to have seen started the 914 trend years ago down in Atlanta, now represented by another on here. Has to be done one of these days so why not now?
Some I'll never forget, took up the 914 torch in Arizona. then another in Portsmouth and made it flame brightly for years and yet another is trying to run with the 914 flame and looks pretty bright just this minute.

All. Remember. It has to be about the 914 more than a person or the 914 flame will need to find a new carrier of that torch.
Never has been anything more than that nor will it ever be.

I’m a long time car fanatic. Married my wife Becky after I talked her into buying a 71 914 1.7 to replace her 64.5 Mustang. We drove that until Andrew came along, because it wouldn’t fit all of us. I Project Manage large computer network installs. I’m lucky so far to work mostly from home. Becky is a stay-at-home wife and so far we’ve got along fine spending most of our day with each other. We must really love each other. I don’t actually own a teener, but according to the state of California, I have part ownership in Andrews. Andyrew is my now 18 year old son who was infected with the car bug from me. He owns a 73 that started out as a 1.8 moved to a 2.0 and ended up with a 5.7. My hot rod is an 86 944 Turbo that is ‘tuned’ for track and autocross. It’s clone is all stock that I (and now Andrew) use for driving around town. We’re currently embarking on a Garage and Laundry room addition to the house. We’ll add an inside laundry to appease the women in the family and a second 2 car garage so that my turbos don’t have to spend their nights out in the cold.

The other member of our family is Rosie. She is a 14 year old Dachshund. She runs the house with Becky as a close second. She will soon find out that the window seat in the laundry room will allow her to sit and watch the people go by while she barks her head off.
