Wow these pictures are something else

This review makes you really like this guy. RIP.

but it also shows the first on scene video, going from smoke to flames. Looks like a fuel fire. Didn't need to see that.

I only knew who Paul was from a couple of the Fast & Furious movies we'd seen. Sounds like he was a pretty down to earth guy in real life.

Condolences to both of their families and friends.

It's Wednesday, 1:50 pm, and two planes pulling banners memorializing Paul Walker are circling the crash site. They are circling directly over my office, so I took cell phone photos; the text is not readable otherwise I'd post them.

My friend Henry Chung knew him from Time attack events. Per Henry," he was such a normal guy that absolutely no one would be intimidated by his celebrity. He was just as excited by your cars as you would be by his."

Autopsy shows he survived the crash and died of a combination of traumatic and thermal injuries...

Stranger and stranger. We now know how they came up with the speed estimate of between 40 and 45 mph. The entire incident was caught on CCTV. They timed the difference between the light pole going down and the tree getting hit. Pretty hard to argue with. Also, recent reports show no evidence of any fluid leaks.

Not sure who came up with that. The LA detective in charge of the investigation said this afternoon they were still determining the approximate speed. Initial police estimates based on that CCTV footage, the damage to the car being torn in half, the autopsy reports showing the extent of trauma to the two bodies place the initial speed at impact at, "at least 90 miles per hour, according to a statement from Los Angeles County Sheriff’s detective Jeff Maag".

40 to 45 my ass.

and this:

'The coroner's office told ABC News that two different doctors did autopsies on the two men. They found that Rodas died on impact, with Walker dying "maybe" a few seconds after from the combined effects of the impact and the fire.'

I'd make a guess that after the car was ripped apart hitting the pole and trees there were plenty of fluid leaks . . .

I sure hope he didn't suffer in that fire. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

FWIW, another common way of determining speeds is to use the length of the skidmarks. Several other variables are involved, including scrub vector, tire compound and road surface, but police have been using it for years to back-track crashes and determine if a car was traveling at or under the speed limit. Admittedly, its not always that accurate though.

uh..why? We are on a Porsche board talking about a dead celebrity. Not sure how my comment is more out of line then anything else already going on here as this whole thread started off topic. I just read one of the links posted here and commented on the thing that jumped out at me.

Granted 16 is a grey arera for a lot of people, it is still illegal in a lot of places including California. He may have been a great guy, i dont know, that fact just struck me as off.

I can say this though, I am 33 at the moment and could not imagine dating a 16 year old, or 18, or even some in their early 20s for that matter. I know girls that age, and to me they look/act like children. I could not relate.

I also have a daughter, not sure I would be cool with that situation even if the guy did own a Carerra GT.

As a Porsche enthusist, I regret the car was lost.
As a human, I morn the loss of life.
As someone with math skills, im going to point out this 33 year old guy was dating a 16 year old minor.

other then that I couldnt give 2 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/stromberg.gif)

Well, the way I interpret was – the guys gone, so why not piss on his grave.
Your 33 and can calculate two sets of numbers …well that does not impress me.
What would have been impressive is – if that person was still alive and you called him out on it. Then I say you had all the right too. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/stromberg.gif)

First off, my condolences to both of their families and friends.

It sounds like they hit the light pole at 90 +. That slowed them down to 45 on the way to the tree.

Not pissing on anyone, just finding humor in the negative details people overlook in their idols. Not caring to impress anyone either and I am sure I would have said the same thing when he was alive too, only I never heard about it as I spend my time doing things other then watching TMZ but now it is unavoidable because for some reason in death he is plastered all over every forum possible and people with Porsche interests wind up reading about him while looking for Porsche content. The fact that he is now dead doesn't change what he did when he was alive so why should it make any difference what I say? Something like 100,000+ people die everyday, yet only this one gets his face plastered everywhere and banners flown around by planes, and why, because he had a face pretty enough to be in movies(lets be honest he was not the greatest actor), and all the while everyone overlooks the fact that he dates 16 year olds? I find a bit of humor in that. What can you do? What about the other 999,999 people that died that day that didn't have romantic relationships with 16 year olds? Where are their planes with banners and media coverage?

Is everyone supposed to get my respect just because they died? Am I supposed to be thinking Hittler was a respectable chap too just because he is dead now?

What is your angle here? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/stirthepot.gif)

My angle is having fun with a thread on a Porsche board due its serious lack of Porsche content (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) so lighten up. I could understand people being upset if I were to post that over on IWORSHIPMEIDEICOREDEADACTORS.COM but this is a Porsche forum, I don't come here to read obituaries and cry.

PS. I hereby grant everyone on this board permission to literally piss on my ashes when I am gone. That is if you can find whatever the nearest dumpster to my wife that she throws them in (as per my instructions to her) That is how little I care about this sort of thing.

I get it...thanks for the clearification- enjoy your holiday season. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/drunk.gif)

Is this a link? I couldn't get it to work. It seems like we need too threads. One dealing with our morbid fascination with crash physics and the other with the personal part. I don wanna do the personal part, but am very curious about how not to drive.
