No it's real. I've seen pictures of LA County Fire spraying water on a red Porsche with center lock wheels... Trying to find the image again now.

I was at this car show today. A real Fast & Furious type crowd. Several newer 911s, some High $$ cars, few old cars, mine being one of them. No one even asked about 914-6...
Paul Walker keeps some of his cars at Always Evolving. They have a concierge service for rich guy cars.
I left before all this happened. Spent a good part of the morning breathing all over this car. It is a real tragedy, he was a really cool guy and just having fun.

Paul Walker was part owner. That would get him a spot or two to park his cars.

Roger Rodas was the CEO of Always Evolving...

Very much true… I live less than 5 minutes up the road from the AE shop and scene of the accident……. Sad deal no matter how you slice it. May he and Rodger Rest In Peace.

A true tragedy as it was street racing that made him famous. From the look of the wrecked car, they must have really been running quickly for a built up area.

A good reminder to keep it on the track with proper safety equipment, not on the public streets.

RIP

agree.gif Paul Walker was a good guy, and always had a good attitude, even though all people ever knew him for was Fast and Furious.

As George said, the lesson to be learned here is no matter how experienced you think you are, racing should be left for the track, no excuses. I do remember Rodas from the PWC as well, and he should have known better. Very sad.

RIP for Paul and Rodas. As some one posted, racing is better and most times safer - on the track.
I have an Porsche Master Tech as a buddy and when it comes to the CGT. Many times after a service during a test drive, the CGT ' will' exhibit some tail wagging....this is with traction control. One of his other comments was- I hope no one turns off traction control as if 'will' be a handful.

I am certified on the GT and it was ingrained during training to never even touch the traction control button. The car also is very rear weight biased. A lot more than you would think for a mid engine.

So many Carrera GTs have ended in a bad way. This car must be a hand full to drive at the limit.

Unfortunately some end tragically.

It would appear to be another case of "too much car, not enough driver", added to the ever popular "inappropriate venue". Sad, but it happens every day, and people with truly fast cars seem to do it more often than those of us with more affordable rides. These two guys were within a couple hours' drive of multiple racing facilities, and had the money to avail themselves of the opportunity to do their thing there. At least they didn't take out any non-participants in their folly. Well, except for the trees.

agree.gif the tree won.

It's so easy to go fast in these cars that when they let go, well...

I remember meeting Pelle Lindbergh and drooling over his red 930 a week before he drove it into a stone wall.

You can see the 'Yaw Marks' left by the car (under front license of black Tahoe and right front tire). The two separate tire marks indicates the car was broadsliding. Obvious is the car hit the tree and bent in half. The left front tire you can see the dent in the rim too, would be caused by more than likely the curb. The left rear rim is unmarked. The dynamics of this crash obviously had some high speed and rotational principles.

Read somewhere it was behind a building and they were doing donuts, so might be the 'traction control' turned off issue.

Proper place/proper time. Cars kill more people than guns...here's another preventable death(s).

WARNING: If your web searching photos and have the filters OFF. There's apparently there's gay porn actor named 'Paul Walker'. MY EYES barf.gif barf.gif you can't un-see some thing. barf.gif WTF.gif

I've always like Paul Walker. He never flaunted his fame and seemed humble about it.

As far as if anyone cared, yes many did, especially his friends and family.

I don't do "fan". They're actors. They pretend to be someone else for a living.
IMHO, anyone who puts them on some sort of pedestal has serious self esteem issues.

Five minutes before he died he was raising money for the victims of the typhoon in the Philippines. His charitable foundation was matching every dollar that was raised. He was a pretty real guy for someone who was an actor from the age of two... Very real down to earth. Just a car guy like most of us... Fast and Furious was a natural role for him...

I was never a Fan of the Fast & Furious Movies, I thought it taught a lot of Young Guys irresponsible Driving & who knows how many driving deaths. However, I feel for Paul's Family & Fan Base!

I have driven a lot of High Horsepower Cars & they are too easy to get away from you. I would rather wring the most out of a Low Horsepower car - they are much easier to catch in a spin.

What a bummer!

Speed contests belong on the track. You should never operate a car without knowing its limits including the parts that wear.

Live each day passionately and intentionally because none of us know when a day will be our last... a don't defer your dreams.

I had no idea who Paul Walker was either, but this kind of thing can happen to anyone, including nut jobs like us...

Rye Canyon Loop is my work address, so I'll check the accident site on my way to the office. Rye Canyon Loop has a gated entrance to a biomed campus (Mann Biomedical Park), so the accident must have happened just at the short entry to the guard gate. I've driven my 914/LS1 on these very streets. What initially strikes me are the surrounding streets are too dangerous to drive at speed; circular and off camber.

I too didn't know who this actor was until I read the reports.

I never saw the Fast and Furious movies, not really interested in them, however, it is truly sad when someone who has done so much for people in need passes on. I'm sure they were having a heck of a ride, very very sad, sorry it had to end that way. Heck I remember going to R and G Hot dog roast and swap meet in Riverside....I'll have to admit, being around all those fun cars, I've seen other members here and have been in some wild rides myself. Dan Callicott took me for an amazing ride in his car before he passed away, quite an adrenalin rush.... RIP to them both.

Thinking on this a bit, I think they're gonna be able to look at the engine management control module and determine a lot of information on the events leading up to the incident. The mystery will be resolved.
