I am resurrecting/hijacking this thread for my 914 Build Off thread.

I have made very little progress since I bought this 914 and started this thread.

My Build Off thread starts at post number 27 where I have a some background on me and my new Blue 914 and what I plan to accomplish as part of the 914 Build Off.

Thanks for following along!

Jim

I am leaving the original post in this thread so the post that follow make sense.

The original start:

So I went to Long Beach to spend Thanksgiving week with my kids, both my son and daughter now live in LB.
While I was in LB to took a trip up to Santa Clairita and bought Chris' (banger on 914world) Majik Blue Pearl 914 project. Chris has put a lot of work into this car with the engine he built and the paint & body work he had done. He has had an ad posted for awhile and had dropped his asking price too low for me to pass up.

This is going to be the beginnings of my project thread, which looks like it will mostly be reassembling the car after the body/paint work that was done. It is the body and paint work that lead me to buying this from Chris, it is an amazing color blue that changes with the light.

I did not bring a truck and trailer with me on vacation so I will be going back down (prob 2 weeks) to pick-up the car and parts. Empty truck & trailer from N. Cal to S. Cal if anyone needs something transported?

Now I need to sell off much of the 3 other 914s I have to support this project (and appease my wife). Since Chris' car was a complete runner before it came apart for paint/body work, there will soon be ads in the classified for much of my years of collecting.

Here is to new beginnings (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

That is what I think (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

My wife is not so convinced (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Mostly she thinks I should have sold cars & parts I already have before buying another car & parts(silly girl).
She does like the paint color (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Very nice Jim, can't wait to see you in a running car. If you need any help let me know, shops almost done if you need a lift.
I can probably help you with getting rid of some of those parts too, still need a few things for the black car.

Mary is doing fine so far but IF I don't follow thru with selling off some stuff I'll have some problems. I need to get rid of much of what I have anyway, I need the space and money will help too.

I planned to get in touch about your trailer but if you are interested in helping with the pick-up run that would be great. I am tentatively planning on going down again on the weekend of Dec 14th/15th.

I work Saturday I think. But Sunday / Monday would work if you're flexible. Otherwise, the trailer is at Mark's and you're welcome to use it.

We should have a build party. You've got pretty much everything you need... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I can be flexible, it is whether work can be flexible. I'll look into what is going on that Monday. All next week I have a software developer in from Colorado to set up a new publication environment. Who know what they have planned after that?

I have thought about a build party but first I have to clear out my garage and get the car here.

Are you grabbing the motor I have here as well? I'll need a bit of time to un-bury it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) If not, I might have a buyer.

Well, he has resolved the terms of the hostage situation. He had to get a car to the point it was worthy of that motor! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Thing ran a lot better with the new Bowlsby harness. You guys trying to keep your motors running with the stock injection should take note of that. Cured pretty much all the sins... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I do plan to get the motor you have there but I am not sure what to do in the long run.
I was not looking for a car with a fresh motor, much less a hot rod motor with MS on it. I had always planned to use the "Dwight" motor that is sitting at your shop. Now I have to make decisions?

I don't need to pick up the "Dwight" motor at the same time as the the car, we can plan a day I can come "un-bury" it and get it out of your way.

Buyer? Never thought about selling it but I'd be interested to hear about a buyer. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I would also like to bring the 73 roller I have over to you and have you estimate the cost to patch the floorboard and firewall to make it a solid chassis again. I figure it will be easier sell if that cost is known up front.
