When I removed these, the slot was facing up. The book says they should be facing down. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) Which is correct? Does it matter? If facing up is wrong, they have been like that since I installed ceramic lifters about 9 years ago. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/WTF.gif) If there is a way to eff this up I will find it. Yep, the slots face down....that's where the push rod tube retainers fit into.

The slots hold the spring. I don't use a spring. So I guess it doesn't matter then, if they are up or down if not using a spring?

So, no spring, rocker stands upside down, and tons of RTV.

Evidently you like smoking heat exchangers and/or oil leaks...
