QUOTE(McMark @ Feb 1 2014, 07:34 PM) *

Anyone who wants to take over a portion of the planning is welcome to. I know it sounds like a broken record, but Jim, if you can find, contact and work with another hotel, then Rob or I can make a run to check it out in person for 'final' approval. I agree that a smaller hotel would be better, but I'm not able to make phone calls and arrangements.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) It's a 30 minute drive to the lake for me but finding that 30 minutes is pretty tough. I hear the concerns, but if this is all on Mark and me, it's at Harvey's...

I hear that. This season is baffling, but it could change tomorrow.
McMark and Conedodger, I don't have monetary offers this year, but I will help where I can.

My assistant at work skis just about every day he's off. His wife and kids, every single day. Yes there is a ski season this year. They just got two feet on Thursday...

There was a Groupon deal I just scored for Grand Sierra in Reno.

Two nights, two breakfast buffets for two, $59.

Deals can be had.

How about using Reno as the HQ and make One of the drives to the Lake ?

Seems like it should be somewhere you would want to go on vacation, or somewhere new, definitely not Reno, not exactly a vacation spot unless you gamble, wouldn't want it in Sacramento or Vallejo or....boring towns

Everyone's talking central coast, or Tahoe, both have been done. Why not somewhere new, doesn't have to be a big town....Just near fun drives, like Sonora, Sonora pass nearby, pinecrest lake, Yosemite. I'm sure there are many others.

Maybe this should be discussed at WCR each year so we aren't trying to figure out what we're doing a couple months ahead.

And I'll put my time behind my ideas....I'd be willing to help however I can.

Just my thought....feel free to criticize all you want.

Good thought ! There are a lot of scenic places in California, Nevada, Oregon that could work.

Reminding you all once again that all this free association about what we 'could' do is pointless unless someone steps up and plans it. Mark and I will not let the tradition die, but we just don't have time to change from what we have already outlined...

All it takes realistically are 3 people to coordinate the event. With 3 good people it is pretty easy to do. Doesn't take that much time when you have things spread between people. Even more is great but it takes a coordinated effort. So if you have an idea for WCR. Say I want to have it here along with a general idea of what will happen. Most of us could care less where it is. A good drive, Some scenic views on the drive maybe (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) Possibly an autoX but not necessary, Most our time is spent BS ing in the parking lot anyway. It's just nice to have a good schedule of event's. Leave time for the parking lot's. A list of things to do for spouse's or those that may want to branch out for something from the group. It's nice to bring family along so there does need to be some kind of draw besides our 914's. Shopping or just something plain cool. Hell I still want to do a repeat of Medford but we just had it in Oregon. So pick a place & a time. Hopefully it won't be the same as Porsche Parade in Monterey. I think it will affect our numbers if it is. I plan to go to parade this year for the first time

I am happy to help organize. An official committee of at least 3 people should be formed and then we can set up a conference call to discuss options for locations and dates.

How does May 15-18 work for everyone? Weekend before Memorial Day so it should be slow and snow should be gone by then, unless we have "opposite season" like this winter has been so far.

By the way, I will be in Tahoe this next Saturday and can check out places if needed.

Happy to help anyway I can too. Whoever steps up gets to pick the time and place as they will be responsible to get it together. In all reality, it works best if it's in that person's "backyard", to help get it put together, but wouldn't have to be.

I say let Jamie plan it since he thinks it is so easy. I have headed up 3 of the MUSR events and I'm here to tell you it is not that easy. I was fortunate enough to have 4 or 5 people assisting that really made it work. Definitely needs to have people to help out and all must stay in touch with each other, even then, it is a hard, thankless job.
