Can they get steel GT flares? I have checked the site and they aren't listed. Does anyone other than (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/ar15.gif) AA sell steel ones ?? 12 years of buying parts for almost every model Porsche and not 1 order has been 100% right from them. I would rather buy from Cali and get it right. Sorry to hi-jack

NO worries Scotty, your not hijacking...

GPR can get the flares from AA. That was the whole deal (even though the ad was horribly written), GPR and AA are pooling from eachothers stash to provide more parts for you guys. AA has lots of reproduction parts, and GPR has lots of good used parts. So those that shop at AA can still GPR's parts, GPR customers can get AA parts.

short term memory problem...hell, I don't know who I spoke to now (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smile.gif)

I do know Dave called me to let me know they hadn't shipped it yet and wanted to make sure I didn't "have" to have by the weekend, if I did, he would have Fed-Ex'd it to me.....I told him I was not in a hurry, but thanks for asking.....we then spoke on the phone for a 30 minutes talking 914 and business stuff....they are selling my bearings thru their relationship with Tarett Engineering (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smile.gif)

Hi People
I am a very old customer of GPR, way before "Web" stores. I used to rush to the bookstore and buy anything with 914 adds or VW type4 stuff. Then spend hundreds of $$$ of long distance phone calls, just to talk to VW bug or 911 experts. After some HORRIBLE advice, parts, money etc...from some other "well known" suppliers, the only one that I am mentioning is closed (I think) the others are member of this board (I think), I buy a mag with a GPR add and saw a small space that mentioned a 914 part. Now, there is a long story before this and lets just say, I was in deep$$$ and distressed, angry, name it, I call with a carb problem, I screwed with the jets till everything was messed. I think his name was Dave, but this is 12 to 15 years ago... anyway, I ask very gently if its cool to talk 914 (I have had some big Porsche places laugh at 914s) and he says "Ya Man we kinda cut our teeth on 914s". I fall over and start to explain my stuff, he goes "Hey sounds just like my setup, what you need is jet #xxxx , Jet # xxxxx , Jet # xxxxxx , this conversation took about half an hour (this was the time AA was charging 10 or 15 bucks for advice), and he even says I can find the parts locally at a Dell supplier, I said "no way, just send them". I put them in and "BANG" I'm in business. I can write a 10 page topic on bad experiences, anybody want to talk about "Stevens machining perfomance" .
To this day I am still running these jets, how do you say thanx for over 10 years of 914 fun. If he's out there, I am lifting my beer to your health, cheers. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/beer.gif)
Back in the day we had no way of comparing suppliers it was all hit and miss. PS I am not 40 yet.
THUMBS UP GPR
FUCK Stevens Machining (if you only knew why) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/pissoff.gif)

Pelican carries the AA flares as well. I wouldn't be that surprised to find that many or most of the aftermarket parts places can get the AA flares...

(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif) Thats good to know. I realize the $ ends up at AA but avoiding the hassle is worth buying from others. Plus it takes just as long from one as it does from the other, and I'm just 3 states away! when I first started dealing with them I would get mymparts in 2-3 days, now it takes a week at least.

I live in Atlanta and have been messing around with 914s for more than 20 years. There is a reason why I spend all I can elsewhere than locally. AA does not have a good reputation in the Atlanta area so I was surprised to learn that GPR and AA were teaming up.

I really do not take pleasure in warning folks about AA but I feel like they have had planty of time to change their tune if they really wanted to.....I am certainly not the first person to have these kinds of experiences.

I have not dealt with GPR so if they have found a way to work with AA on a level that works for them, then great for GPR and maybe - good for us. I will certainly give GPR a try.

I've known Dave from when oil came in round quart paper cans with tin tops, he was getting a thing called MidEngineMania going , which was 914s primarilly.
I was speaking to him on the phone today and he remembered my old shop in the SG Valley... said it was scarey . I agreed with him ! I then increased GPRs credit line for having done that to him (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/laugh.gif)
Good place to buy your stuff...

GPR ROCKS!!!!! No where else can you order and have the part on your porch the next day without paying through the nose for shipping. They are always consistant and if I remember correctly also supported WCC '04. My first purchase from Dave (pre-GPR) was before some of you guys were prolly even born yet (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/idea.gif) (Maybe not, but somewhere around 1991/92-ish). One of the "Go To" places, for sure. Had a very positive GPR experience this past xmas, come to think of it.

I too have known Dave since he began as Mid Engine Mania. Heck , I used to make a Christmas list of 914 stuff I wanted/needed and then gave it to my wife with instructions to call Dave and order the stuff from him. Never a bad transaction and I always got what I wanted under the xmas tree! It's good to see he's working with AA. Hope he teach them a thing or 2 about customer service. AA has things that I've not been able to find anywhere else. Last couple of orders with AA have been ok, but I avoid them as much as possible. Maybe things are better, I hope for all of us they are/will be. Good luck Dave!!
