This is the workshop where I have my 914 maintained. I was asked to make a short film to show the new facility.
It's the first time I filmed using a DSLR. I wanted to have a retro "filmic" look.

Can someone give me a hand to polish the english subtitles ? (text file attached)
If you want to read the subtitles while watching the movie you must click on the related button in the menu bar under the video.

Cool! I like the DSLR.

I also like the look that the DSLR gives... but you have to fight with a lot of issues ... Crappy sound, aliasing, moiré ... and focusing can be be tricky with those wide opened manual lenses...

Here's my take on the captions. My french is a bit crap, but I think I fixed it some. I hope it helps.

QUOTE
1
00:00:33,300 --> 00:00:37,950
Art Restoration is not an idea
that came suddenly

2
00:00:37,950 --> 00:00:40,890
Rather, it is the idea
to be independent

3
00:00:40,890 --> 00:00:44,490
professionally speaking, to live
my passion, to be autonomous,

4
00:00:44,490 --> 00:00:49,010
to work on Porsches.

5
00:00:49,010 --> 00:00:52,840
Today Art Restoration
has 10 employees.

6
00:00:52,840 --> 00:00:55,340
The workshop is 1400 square meters.

7
00:00:55,340 --> 00:01:00,010
Clients entrust us with their cars
for different work,

8
00:01:00,010 --> 00:01:04,640
from simple maintenance to
complete restoration

9
00:01:04,640 --> 00:01:06,880
We will actually do work on demand

10
00:01:06,880 --> 00:01:10,140
placing much importance on managing the car

11
00:01:10,140 --> 00:01:17,140
budgeting for
various aspects of repair

12
00:01:20,350 --> 00:01:25,000
bodywork is at the heart
of Art Restoration.

13
00:01:25,300 --> 00:01:28,790
I am fortunate to have
hired in my team,

14
00:01:28,790 --> 00:01:31,650
people who are as
demanding as I am.

15
00:01:31,650 --> 00:01:34,540
We are now equipped
with the tools

16
00:01:34,540 --> 00:01:41,540
to allow us to fully reconstruct
a car if necessary.

17
00:01:42,430 --> 00:01:46,300
Classic 911's were painted
with solvent-based paints,

18
00:01:47,010 --> 00:01:49,900
and we are a rare or even unique
garage in Alsace

19
00:01:50,800 --> 00:01:53,340
in that we are equipped with solvent-based paints.

20
00:01:53,340 --> 00:01:55,880
Water-based paint never seems
to have the same finish,

21
00:01:55,880 --> 00:01:58,960
the same color, the same depth,

22
00:01:58,960 --> 00:02:02,049
and when speaking of metallic colors
as they were done at the time,

23
00:02:02,049 --> 00:02:04,000
with a water-based paint,
we are far from the mark.

24
00:02:04,600 --> 00:02:06,000
Whereas with our solvent-based paints,

25
00:02:06,000 --> 00:02:08,600
we really approach the
finishes of the time.

26
00:02:13,200 --> 00:02:16,389
a "flat" engine is
technologically simple

27
00:02:16,389 --> 00:02:19,700
The implementation is complicated, however.
...it always leaks, oozes.

28
00:02:19,700 --> 00:02:23,359
Rebuilding an engine is not only
disassembly, cleaning , and reassembly,

29
00:02:23,359 --> 00:02:25,939
but there are a lot of checks,

30
00:02:25,939 --> 00:02:29,900
adjustment to be made
to build a reliable engine

31
00:02:29,900 --> 00:02:34,129
which runs smoothly and does not leak.

32
00:02:34,129 --> 00:02:37,959
We have set up a workshop with
machine tools with a person for

33
00:02:37,959 --> 00:02:40,549
fitting, turning, and mill operation.

34
00:02:40,549 --> 00:02:44,049
It enables us to assemble
engines with a quality level

35
00:02:44,049 --> 00:02:46,900
and reliability that is remarkable.

36
00:02:49,500 --> 00:02:53,879
Our general philosophy is,
above all, customer satisfaction,

37
00:02:53,879 --> 00:02:57,500
which means, cars are sold

38
00:02:57,500 --> 00:02:59,899
with as much transparency as possible.

39
00:02:59,899 --> 00:03:01,700
Customers who buy a car
from us will know

40
00:03:01,700 --> 00:03:03,429
its strengths and
weaknesses

41
00:03:03,429 --> 00:03:07,589
when someone comes for maintenance
we will give them advice

42
00:03:07,589 --> 00:03:09,769
and above all, we will solve
the problems.

43
00:03:09,769 --> 00:03:12,600
We take pride in not letting a car go

44
00:03:12,600 --> 00:03:15,000
until the problems are resolved.

45
00:03:18,600 --> 00:03:21,400
Restoring Fuchs wheels

46
00:03:21,400 --> 00:03:24,100
is also an important element
of our business.

47
00:03:25,489 --> 00:03:29,239
Three years ago, I met a German
who still has the know-how

48
00:03:29,239 --> 00:03:32,009
to restore Fuchs wheels
as it they were done originally.

49
00:03:32,009 --> 00:03:34,709
He retired and I took over
his business,

50
00:03:34,709 --> 00:03:37,100
and now we restore
Fuchs rims.

51
00:03:37,100 --> 00:03:44,879
At the Art Restoration facility

52
00:03:48,600 --> 00:03:50,389
the company is more than just the men that work here.

53
00:03:50,389 --> 00:03:52,109
-it is the customers.

54
00:03:52,109 --> 00:03:53,559
Many customers become friends.

55
00:03:53,559 --> 00:03:57,069
For me, my passion for Porsches
is driving the cars.

56
00:03:57,069 --> 00:03:59,779
Porsches have the most to offer
when driving together.

57
00:03:59,779 --> 00:04:02,869
Every Sunday morning , at 8:30am
we meet at the garage,

58
00:04:02,869 --> 00:04:04,100
have a bit of coffee...

59
00:04:04,100 --> 00:04:06,819
some discussion at "the flat",
and then we drive.

60
00:04:06,819 --> 00:04:08,100
We try to spend
two hours on the road.

61
00:04:08,100 --> 00:04:10,100
We have as much fun
driving a Porsche

62
00:04:10,100 --> 00:04:12,900
as seeing one in front
and another behind.

63
00:04:12,900 --> 00:04:13,900
That is great

Thx Johannes. Another great video. Porsche Porn (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) .And a pitch for your product if I may. The T-Shirts that I bought from you 2+ years ago are holding up very well. And IIRC, these were not your finest, either. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/pray.gif) If you have a Dawn Patrol T- Shirt, it came from Johannes. Good quality stuff!
