I also worked on it a bit...

1
00:00:33,330 --> 00:00:37,950
Art restoration was not an idea I had all of a sudden,

2
00:00:37,950 --> 00:00:40,890
but rather, from
an idea to be independent,

3
00:00:40,890 --> 00:00:44,490
professionally speaking, by
living my passion by being autonomous,

4
00:00:44,490 --> 00:00:49,010
independent and
working on Porsches.

5
00:00:49,010 --> 00:00:52,840
today Art Restoration
has 10 employees.

6
00:00:52,840 --> 00:00:55,340
a 13,000 square foot workshop

7
00:00:55,340 --> 00:01:00,010
our clients entrust us with their cars
for various work

8
00:01:00,010 --> 00:01:04,640
from simple maintenance to
complete restoration

9
00:01:04,640 --> 00:01:06,880
we will work hard to satisfy your needs

10
00:01:06,880 --> 00:01:10,140
giving great importance to supervising the
work on your car

11
00:01:10,140 --> 00:01:17,140
budgeting the work at our various service and
repair stations

12
00:01:20,350 --> 00:01:25,000
bodywork is at the heart of our restoration
craft

13
00:01:25,300 --> 00:01:28,790
I am fortunate to have hired
on my team

14
00:01:28,790 --> 00:01:31,650
people who are as
demanding as me

15
00:01:31,650 --> 00:01:34,540
we are now outfitted with the
equipment

16
00:01:34,540 --> 00:01:41,540
for fully reconstructing
a car as necessary

17
00:01:42,430 --> 00:01:46,300
classic 911’s were painted
with solvent-based paints

18
00:01:47,010 --> 00:01:49,900
we are a rare and unique
garage in Alsace

19
00:01:50,800 --> 00:01:53,340
equipped with solvent-based paints

20
00:01:53,340 --> 00:01:55,880
water-based paints never manage to
match the original appearance

21
00:01:55,880 --> 00:01:58,960
the same color, the same depth

22
00:01:58,960 --> 00:02:02,049
and when we talk about metallic colors
as they were done at the time…

23
00:02:02,049 --> 00:02:04,000
with a water-based paint,
we would be far from authentic (could say “we are downright off”)

24
00:02:04,600 --> 00:02:06,000
whereas with our solvent-based paints

25
00:02:06,000 --> 00:02:08,600
we truly approach
the proper look of that era

26
00:02:13,200 --> 00:02:16,389
a “flat” engine is technologically
simple

27
00:02:16,389 --> 00:02:19,700
but the implementation is complicated,
it always leaks, oozes

28
00:02:19,700 --> 00:02:23,359
rebuilding an engine is not only
disassemble, clean , reassemble

29
00:02:23,359 --> 00:02:25,939
but there are a lot of checks, (could say “but there are a lot of inspections)

30
00:02:25,939 --> 00:02:29,900
adjustments to be made
to rebuild a reliable engine

31
00:02:29,900 --> 00:02:34,129
which runs smoothly and does not leak

32
00:02:34,129 --> 00:02:37,959
we set up a workshop complete with
machine tools and with a person who

33
00:02:37,959 --> 00:02:40,549
is a fitter ,miller , lathe
operator

34
00:02:40,549 --> 00:02:44,049
it enables us to assemble
engines today with a level of quality

35
00:02:44,049 --> 00:02:46,900
and reliability that is remarkable

36
00:02:49,500 --> 00:02:53,879
our general philosophy
above all is customer satisfaction

37
00:02:53,879 --> 00:02:57,500
that means, cars that are sold

38
00:02:57,500 --> 00:02:59,899
with the greatest
possible transparency

39
00:02:59,899 --> 00:03:01,700
the customer who buys a car
from us will know

40
00:03:01,700 --> 00:03:03,429
its strengths and
weaknesses

41
00:03:03,429 --> 00:03:07,589
when someone comes for maintenance
we will give him advice

42
00:03:07,589 --> 00:03:09,769
and above all, we will solve
the problems he has

43
00:03:09,769 --> 00:03:12,600
we pride ourselves on not letting
a car leave

44
00:03:12,600 --> 00:03:15,000
until all problems are resolved
until the car is just right

45
00:03:18,600 --> 00:03:21,400
Restoring Fuchs wheels

46
00:03:21,400 --> 00:03:24,100
is also an important element
of our business

46+
for classic Porsches

47
00:03:25,489 --> 00:03:29,239
three years ago, I met a unique German
who still had the know-how

48
00:03:29,239 --> 00:03:32,009
to restore Fuchs wheels
as they were done originally

49
00:03:32,009 --> 00:03:34,709
he retired and I took over
his business

50
00:03:34,709 --> 00:03:37,100
and now we restore
Fuchs rims

51
00:03:37,100 --> 00:03:44,879
at the Art Restoration facility

52
00:03:48,600 --> 00:03:50,389
our company is not just our workers

53
00:03:50,389 --> 00:03:52,109
but our customers

54
00:03:52,109 --> 00:03:53,559
many customers become friends

55
00:03:53,559 --> 00:03:57,069
and for me, my passion for Porsche
is driving Porsches

56
00:03:57,069 --> 00:03:59,779
and the Porsche camaraderie,
when driving with others

57
00:03:59,779 --> 00:04:02,869
every Sunday morning , 8:30
we meet at our garage

58
00:04:02,869 --> 00:04:04,100
we have coffee and

59
00:04:04,100 --> 00:04:06,819
discussions ensue on the "flat" engines
and afterwards we drive

60
00:04:06,819 --> 00:04:08,100
we try to spend at least
two hours driving

61
00:04:08,100 --> 00:04:10,100
it can be said that we have the most fun
driving a Porsche

62
00:04:10,100 --> 00:04:12,900
while seeing one in front
and another behind

63
00:04:12,900 --> 00:04:13,900
that is just great

What a great video. But further, what a great way of life. I'd love to spend my days working on classic Porsche cars in a beautiful shop in such a gorgeous land.

This shop is not the largest, but certainely one of the cleanest...
Sonauto is no more the official importer for Porsche. They still own three Porsche centers.
